With Mills, he really doesn't have a man who is respected around the league, nor someone who truly has a good network around the league to deal with.
Dolan bought in a basketball man right?
Mills was enroute to be League union leader. Respect.
That old guy with all the rings? Isn't he a basketball guy?
Must be me.
Grumpy ole Knicks1969 upset no big trade deadline soup for Knicks.
I read Phil forgot to adjust his watch for the deadline and had gone in for a nap. since his flow is slow it also took him 15 min to take a piss.
Miami had a good deal for Dragic. Good trade for them. We are a bit thin in the cupboard.
Dude, I am worried about our future; we simply can't afford to have cooks in the OR of a hospital. We need experts. Yes Phil is a basketball mind, but one who has never spent time In A front office. As for Mills, he too has never been a front office guy.
Philly is in about year two or three in its quest to horde draft picks and big's. They ate McGee's salary to get another 1st round pick.
We have just began our rebuild. Not sure Hinkie plan has ever been achieved but he has a reputation as a pure analytics guy and the hype of JVG diet coke workaholic.
While Phil has been the lead with boots on the ground with 13 rings in his vault. Two as a player, 11 as a coach.
Its not like he don't know how its done.
I can't fathom a scenario where our depleted of asset team could really have done much this year.
BTW, all teams makee mistakes and OKC at the time could not pay Durant, Westbrook and Harden max money. They also had a season where they won 59 games WITHOUT HIM.
Just goes to show how hard it is to win it all. OKC came close. Hindsight give you a perfect view but you have to put yourself in that moment with the decision in front of you with the data you have at that time.
Hinkie has won 35 out of 135 games as gm of the 76ers. IF your talking about that being cool because they rebuilding then look in the mirror. So are we. What miricle man depleted of assets could have done better?
SAS, OKC an PHia all been following a formula of draft and trading to enrich the rosters. SAS has a culture. OKC Culture is not so ingrained. Westbrook is a madman crack head athlete and Durant is grumpy. I admire Philly for what they are doing but this tank job is now in its third year. Jury is out.
Maybe im all wrong Grumpy Jerry Krause is just envious cuz Phil got big money from the knicks where Krause got lucky Portland took Sam Bowie and Rockets took Hakeem. He made a great pick (I assume he made the pick for the sonics) but lets not overdo it, it was the 5th pick overall!! He had traded the 8th pick plus to move up. Yeah, it was that Juwan Oldham thing.
Kudos to Krause, and he was the dude that hired Phil!!! Phil got all the press and Jordan got the millions while fatboy stewed and was destined to show who was the man!!!
So he eventually cleaned house and built his new team on the backs of Eddy and Tyson. Oops!!!!
So the architect who created perhaps the best team ever made mistakes. It happens.
Presti, West, Buford, even auerbach all made mistakes.
We are Doomed!
