I am actually a Lin fan and wanted to see him succeed. Would have been nice to see him put into a better situation like MDA's offense which can make decent players look great. so here is what phil is thinking ....

![]() Not trying to take anything away from Larry Brown -- the man's track record obviously speaks for itself, including big success he had with the Sixers and then Detroit just prior to joining the Knicks. I know the Knicks roster when he coached was about as flawed as you could possibly get back then but to be honest, the LB I remember was very impulsive, overly so, and was always crying for management to do something, ANYTHING, no matter the cost, no matter if it made any sense, etc.. I remember thinking half the stuff he wanted to do was nuts -- lineups he wanted to use, players he wanted us to either dump or trade for on the spot -- seemed like everyday he had some new idea to quick-fix instead of respecting the process.. I know Marbury had and still has problems but bottom line--Larry couldn't make that work. Dude was our best player and a hell of a talent at the time...The whole Steve Francis experiment had LB's name all over it from what I remember and it was a disaster. Anyone could've seen Francis had very little left at that point. Not only that, he didn't fit here with Marbury at all...I know the roster sucked and IT sucked at putting it together but LB really irked me after awhile too. The whole brew was bad back then, plain and simple. Coach included...
Regarding Lin -- you really think Lin is a $1mm backup PG now?!? Wow. I see a hell of a lot more than that. He ain't no max player or anything but he's very much on my list if we can't succeed in finding a top PG upgrade either in the draft or in FA with the obvious few guys ahead of him. He's at the top of my list in terms of 2nd tier options...I've seen him quite a few times this year and I think physically he looks fine. Still an underrated floor general. Very adept at finding/setting up open guys. And I think he's still clutch too...I think "Linsanity" had a lot to do with Jeremy being ultra aggressive, continually looking for his own shot, continually taking the ball to the rim, etc.. I think he's still got that--it's more so that his role has changed since that time with the Knicks. Not saying he hasn't lost a step since his knee problem -- that might be true -- I just don't see a night and day difference. Still looks pretty much the same to me athletically speaking. He's still a very capable starting caliber PG with a lot of years left in him.. Definitely worth more than $1mm a pop if you ask me. I think he could be very effective here in NY once again. Convincing Dolan to bury the hatchet and take him back is another matter altogether.. |

I have seen SMU play 3 times this year going 2-1(lost to Cincy) If this guy had Mudiay--Im telling you theyd beat Kentucky and EVEN without Mudiay--they are 1 of the teams that can still beat anyone--they are that good that well coached. This is the same guy who thought Trevor Ariza for Steve Francis was a good idea and claimed Tim Thomas was untouchable when he was coach of the Sixers. The guy is a helluva coach, but he is too flighty to be given control of player-personnel decisions on the NBA level. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right.

It's possible, but it's hard to make that determination watching him play against Ivy Leaguers and other lower level DI guys. Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more.
