not surprised considering whs type of injury are pretty serious and take time. Factoring in the amount of minutes he has logged and age starting to creep up its better to get this done as soon as possible. In fact i wanted him to do it weeks ago

I have to say that this is a bit more serious than the way it was being described. It's not just a Debridement, but also a bit more serious repair to his Cartilage. Not quite as bad as Amare when he had his Microfracture, but just below that.

Popularised by Lanny L. JOHHNSON in the 1980’s , it is a superficial abrasion performed to stimulate repair in the area of sclerotic lesions. Open surgical drilling procedures (PRIDIE) have been advocated to reach the blood supply and the plupotential cells to stimulate fibrocartilage growth. Rather than drill holes , mulitple superficial dimples are created with a motorized burr. This abrasion of sclerotic bone leads to bleeding and formation of a blood clot that attaches to and fills the defect of abraded areas and will transform in fibrocartilage by 4 to 6 months.

Patient have to walk with non weight bearing crutches during two months and malalignement is a contraindication (limiting patient selection).

That bothers me a little bit. I mean the organizatio is giving him all this money which he gets either way so he should at least shut it fdown when hey wat him to in order to be relatively healthy for the upcoming years

Agree. If they knew it was this serious it seems like he should have shut it down awhile ago.

Scariest thing is that Melo is calling the shots. Just like I predicted he would when they have him $124mil.

Get ready to make a big push for Rondo

Fisher said he kept playing because he didn't want to let teammates down. Timing of right after the all star game though looks bad.

NY fans looking for comparisons for Melo & his patellar tendon debridement can look to Danny Granger & Dwyane Wade. Results not encouraging.

Ouch.

This is insane that he didnt have surgery sooner and was allowed play on it. The only good part is Carmelo is an athlete who did not depend on athletic ability.

It's insane that we have him $124mik without checking out his knees.

Melo probably could've played without doing further damage but the bottomline is his knee is deteriorating from 12yrs of heavy minutes

Been thinking about this and to be fair, with the All Star Game in NYC shared between MSG and Barclays, Melo was the biggest host city star in town. Besides his own biz/brand pressure, and peer pressure with other stars in town, there could have been parts of MSG and the league that were hoping Melo could hang on until after the break as well.

I wish he had taken care of it as soon as we were hearing about it, we were firmly in the cellar then.

Or maybe he simply hurt his knee and needs it fixed??

It's fine if you want to believe it isnt a wear & tear injury.

He had issues with the knee and shoulders last year too by the way. If anything he hurt it last year and we still signed him to $124mil

We desperately need Davis or Durant now so Melo can play the Wade role and not be counted on for 40mins for 82 games
