I'm glad that era is over. Let's get back to employing PFs who rebound and play defense.

Good dude who had an incredible 1st yr for us. I'll remember him fondly. Glad we turned the page though--had to be done. Time to move on. Why not do the same thing with Bargnani?? Why keep him around?? Cut Bargnani too and bring in 2 guys--a young big and a guard.

Wouldn't mind seeing STAT's spot go to Khem Birch on a 10-day contact. DL all-star, about 6'10", long, rebounder/good shot-blocker. His game should translate over to the NBA. Could be a nice glue guy for next year. A guy that'll protect the rim; a guy you can plug in alongside more offensive-minded big men that may not specialize in playing defense and doing the little things.

Speaking of DL all-star, anyone know why Bryce Cotton didn't play in the DL all-star game? Didn't see the game -- just looked at the box score and saw 'DNP coach's decision.' Is he hurt?

I don't have anything against Stat. He is what he is. The Knicks gave him that contract so its on them. What I am pissed about is we couldn't trade him for something? And I'm sorry but if he wants out of his contract to go play for a contender then he should forfeit the remaining salary. We are paying him to go play somewhere else. All we get is a roster spot.

I expected Bargnani to get bought out but not Stat.

Who thinks he has 3-4 healthy-ish seasons in him and turns into a valuable player?

Contracts have to match in salary in trades. Who is making $25 mil that we could have gotten for Amare? You're either talking about another expiring contract, in which case the player would have to be much worse than Amare for the team to give him up, or someone with a bad long-term contract that eats up our salary cap space. No one meets the first situation (expiring and worse than Amare) and the second isn't worth the lost cap space.

Like McDyess? That wouldn't shock me.

What PF, before Amar'e, did we have that played defense? Kurt Thomas was ok but very slow when he started putting up bigger numbers and making less fouls.

Oakley?

I think he will be similar to mcdyess. The only skepticism I have is that mcdyess became a jump shooter and I not sure if Stat continues his post game, returns to more pnr, or develops a pick n pop game

McDyess and Amare are two very different players.

Herring called it. Health and fit are more important to a team than superstar name.
