Congestive heart failure. Just had a 9 hour operation.

Just heard it on ESPN- also on UK Home Page

He is only 48.

Very sad.

He is a tough man... hope he pulls through.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

yep after 45 years old--really its Russian Roulette. Mason is very young just so young 48 hes 2 years older than me. I think this is something he can get through as long as he survives the initial phases. When looking at him on TV he looked awful big looked unhealthy in his face. You cant smoke and you must keep your body weight in line or under after 45 cut down on social drinking and get a lot of exercise. At 45 your metabolism basically shuts down and it takes 10 times the work that an 18 year old does just to maintain. Well heres a prayer for Mason

I've gone on a heart healthy diet and exercise just to try and avoid this kind of thing, but it's hard to know what is going on in your arteries. Just gotta do the right things for your health. It's really important. I hope he pulls thru and gets healthy.

I ran into him at the club at MSG before a game. He was pretty much obese. I hope he pulls through this episode well and it serves as a wake up call for him. He's a good guy, deserves longer life.

Had me a silent heart attack and 10 days later had open heart surgery. I have a nasty family history of it that has wiped us out by age 50, but my mom got thru it and now 77. My grandmother died of it at 51, my uncle at 47.

I had gone to a cardiologist since age 30 to keep tabs on it. No damage from my attack thank goodness.

Im spreading the word and volunteer my time with American Heart Association. Don't be stupid and think this can't catch up with some of you. If it runs in the family, don't ignore it. Im blessed and now play competitive Tennis 4 days a week! My autoimmune system is amazing now. Been a bit over 5 years, no colds, no more allergies, no more bronchial problems, and no more sinus infections. Have not missed a day of work since!

Don't know what Mase has, could be enlarged condition? Sounds like he went down hard. Can't say how "clean" he lived either. Hope he pulls thru!!!

If your overall cholesterol is under 150 and you don't smoke take drugs on drink heavily the odds of having a heart attack up to age 65 is exceedingly low/ If you also are tested by a cardiologist on an echo stress machine and you pass 21 minutes(with the under 150 total cholesterol) he told me that the odds of dying by heart attack was 1/10000 at 46. After 65 the odds start dropping considerably but keep you in better odds than those with different scenarios. But the bottom line is many of those 100 year old people eat and rink and smoke what they want and its a lot about genetics. I dont want to live to 100 anyway I just want my fcking Knicks to win once before I die. Sorry mase dont want to take over your thread:)
