Although more talented players like former All-Stars Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway were left unprotected by the Knicks, bench-warmer Cezary Trybanski will have the highest chance of having his name called in the NBA's upcoming expansion draft. It is presumed by most NBA insiders that neither Houston nor Hardaway, though clearly more talented than Trybanski, will be selected by the Bobcats. ESPN writer Chad Ford writes "[Charlotte GM Bernie] Bickerstaff [has] made it clear the team is looking for young, athletic players. It will shy away from veterans in the expansion draft, especially those with huge contracts." Clearly both Houston and Hardaway fall under the category of veterans with huge contracts. Trybanski, a young, cheap 7 footer could be just what the Bobcats are looking for. Knicks fans might worry about losing Trybanski's tradeable expiring contract, but the Knicks will receive a trade exception equal to his 2004-2005 salary, roughly $1.76 million.

if Isiah manages to get a decent player out of Charlotte picking Trybanski in the expansion draft, that will make that Marbury trade look even better when you combine it w/the rumors that Milos also will not be coming to play in the NBA next year.

I agree, I have the feeling that we will end up with a first round pick in this draft and a nice player via trade..

just so I have a good understanding, all that was reported was that Trybanski is more likely to get picked by the Bobcats than Houston or Penny. Not that the Bobcats were at all interested, just that he had a better chance of getting picked. I somehow kinda think the he will NOT be picked, I could be wrong.

he's useless... no way he gets picked. What is possible however (and has been rumored) will be the bobcats trading a player they draft for Othella Harrington. Othella is a nice backup, a tireless worker and a good team guy. The perfect kind of cheap vet with an expiring contract you want around the kids you bring in.

I dont love Othella, but I have always liked the guy - I will be sad to see him shipped off but excited to see what Isiah can get for him. I like the idea of sending him to the Bobcats and getting a player they drafted in return - the question is who can Isiah get from them? Someone picked in rd. 1? Someone from the expansion draft? Most likely option 2....hopefully someone young and athletic.

Qyntel Woods is the most exciting player left exposed in my opinion

I mentioned on another thread that there are 4 pretty talented/young players left exposed...Woods, Gerald Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic and Deshawn Stevenson. I'd love to trade for one of them.

you're probably right, he won't get picked...i just put this article out there in case something like this were to go down, it MIGHT be worth discussing...i apologize for creating a thread to start a discussion.

no need to apologize, more a dig at realgm than anything.

The trade is worth hoping for.
