D'angelo Russell with a super game tonight (so far).

23 points (on only 13 shots)
11 rebounds
11 assists!
2 steals

Edit: he just made a ridiculous pass!

This guy makes it look so easy, and his shooting touch is remarkable.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I'm quietly hoping the Knicks don't get the #1 pick so we can take this kid. I really believe he's going to come right in and be an impact player.

Agreed with everyone here. Russell is my number target and has been for a while. He has the look of a can't miss moreso than the other two bigs...I think OK4 and Towns have more questions marks than Russell does....

Absolutely...He's a great facilitator, passer and can shoot it with range. He can be a Pippen type player for us. The ultimate bonus is he seems to be a leader which is an area we desperately need....

I don't think that he is anything like Pippen.

Pippen was a great defender and a mediocre shooter.

Russell is the opposite.

Russell seems to be the type of player that would shine in a more modern offense.

Russell would have no problem in the Triangle IMO. As a Pinch post 2 man game PG he'd be able to do his thing. There's lots of options for a guard that can create for himself and others in this offense. He'd be more of a scoring guard anyway. Any super talented PG/SG/SF is gonna be able to get off in this offense. Just as Jordan and Kobe were able to score a ton in this offense.

the only thing that gives me pause is that he's a shooter and he doesn't get to the line quite as much as you would like from someone who would be the focal part of the offense... at least yet...

curry has no problems with it and russell's a baller so i think he can succeed in any situation... but i'd hate for the knicks stink to get on this kid... esp if melo and russell start fighting for shots with each other...

We don't score now so clearly there are plenty of shots for Russell. Just imagine him taking the shots our guards miss now.

I just get flashbacks of Lin and the grumblings that some no name Asian kid was stealing his shine... If Russell comes here...make no mistake.. He will be the star...

I think you are misinterpreting what I was trying to say. No, his all around game isn't like Pippen, but in the triangle offense, he can be a facilitator, sort of like Pippen was. He has the passing ability and court awareness to play point and make the game easier for others, but when he's hot, he can also play off the ball if need be....
