how about a Tim Thomas & Nazr Mohammed for Erick Dampier & Cliff Robinson trade?

follow that up w/a KT, Shandon & Frank for Crawford & JYD deal & use the MLE to sign Chris Anderson:

C - Dampier / Anderson / Dikembe
PF - Sweetney / JYD
SF - Penny / Robinson / DerMarr
SG - Houston / Crawford
PG - Marbury / Moochie
IR - Harrington / Trybanski

that's a vastly improved defensive team than last year's, that's for sure!

thoughts? (please, if you're going to criticize, at least provide some better options of your own)

I can't see the bulls making the trade. Because they would be adding 2 long term contracts for one. And Crawford to them probably has more value than KT & Franky. Especially if they are already stacked at PF with A.Davis & Tyson Chandler.

yeah man....

The trade sucks. Dampier is not a 20/15/3 guy you know....He's like a 12/12/ almost 2 in 32 mins.....for his career he's only 8/7/ almost 2 in 25 mins for his career .

Now don't get me wrong I think the dude had great moves in the post and is a great rebounder and shotblocker but the guy is lazy. He has the skillls to be dominant with the type of body he has....

when do you cut a guy off and just take him for what he is instead of what you want him to be? Dude is 30.....now big guys tend to take longer to get it together but 8 years in the league?

Nazr had decent numbers as a Knick.....geez I hate dropping numbers but this is what you guys understand.......9/7/1 in 24 mins. I gurentee if Nazr got 32 minutes per he'd get at least 12/10/ and almost 2.

Spliff is old man.....he is like one of my favorite players of all time but the guy is one blunt away from retirement. Timmy is the same player but younger.

I'm hoping Damps signs a 6 year MLE deal with the Knicks so that we can use Kurt and the expiring contracts in a separate deal. The perfect summer would be to add Damps and Crawford.

So true... I have been saying this all along, getting Craw and Dampier would be the perfect offseason for us.

i realize Damps isn't some youngster, but at this point, Tim Thomas doesn't have much more upside either imo...he's pretty much the players he's going to be...& for me, i put more value on 7 foot, physical shotblocking C who can average a double double in the Western conference than a swingman like TT...this team needs a legitimate C more than they do another swingman scorer imo...& uncle Cliffy's contract is expiring after next year, so no big deal if you have him backing up Penny for next season.

forget about Nazr ever growing into a defensive stopper at the C position...he just doesn't have the instincts...he might put up some points & rebound for you, but he gets into foul trouble trying to guard quicker & more athletic C's...i really don't think he'll ever grow into a star player at C for us...

the whole point of this thread was to think up ways to make this team a better defensive team...i think i achieve that w/the moves outlined above...but if you disagree, that's your prerogative i guess...but having Nazr as our starting C next year isn't going to achieve this goal, trust me.

i'm assuming they are going to trade Davis if they can, but you maybe right about them not wanting to take on the extra money.

I love Crawford and I love Andersen. I agree with other people that say Damps is overrated. I don't trust him. I worry he could be another Olowokandi.

If it were up to me, I'd get Stephen Jackson and try to swing a deal with the Bobs to get another exception to sign Andersen.

Jackson is supposedly going back to the Spurs... how they are going to resign him is anyone's guess.

you get a trade exception if the Bobcats take 1 of your players...you can't use it to sign a free agent...you can only use it in a trade.

Essentially you can use it to sign a free agent in a sign and trade. The other team can sign a player for however much the exception is worth, and then you can trade the exception for the player.
