The Knicks are in THE worst possible spot this season. We have a rookie coach who needs to prove that he can coach, a depleted roster that needs to be revamped, and we also have a chance to obtain the number one draft pick in the draft. If we continue to lose games, chances are we will not be an attractive destination for possible free agents. If we win games, we might miss out at one of the top draft picks. So, what MUST we do???
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

conundrum

Sit Carmelo and blame the losing on that.

Either, the triangle may be a hard sell to free agents who fear that they will fail and deflate their values.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

We're actually in a good spot- upcoming cap space and a high lottery pick. We just spend the rest of this season determining which players will make up our bench, have them learn the triange, establish a hard working culture and we're good to go. We can lose many games and still sell FA's based on melo, our top pick, and the other FAs we'll sign. Sure its not enough to entice the top flight players, but it will be appealing to 2nd their players who would like a bit more exposure.

it will be appealing to 2nd tier FA's only if we grossly overpay. If we don't then they may be better going elsewhere.

High IQ free agents (G Monroe, Gassol, Aldritch) will have no problem fitting in the triangle. The problem is that those guys are playing for better teams and may not want to come to NY. We have a lot going against us, we are a bad team, a terrible media market, an expensive as hell city. $75 million in Detroit is worth a hell of a lot more than in NY

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

We've been tanking since game 3. It's too late to switch gears now. Only Tank Harder and get Melo right

Early on, the Knicks were not trying to tank; at least, it was not deliberate. Fisher has a lot to prove before the end of the season. I don't think any of you is willing to go through a similar season with him as coach for the next four years. As of late, I have seen some improvements when the players are on the court. He is coaching a little better, but has plenty of room for improvements.

Winning 5 or 6 extra games wont make us any more attractive. You know what attracts free agents.....money does and we have plenty of cap space. Getting a top 5 draft pick is much more important than a few extra meaningless wins

That's not a question at all: Of course we tank. To say that NYC is not a desirable destination for FA is ridiculous hogwash. Get a grip 1969. You're losing your senses.

This is THE biggest market in the world. Free agents want to play for a winning team, one with talented players, a team with a "we" culture, a team that gives them the best shot at a chip, a team with solid mgmt (no, not Dolan, but Jax - hell yeah).

And FAs want to get PAID, which is quite doable in NYC.

The Knicks are a game away from the worst record in the league. It seems a bit much to be worried about our Lottery chances at this moment in time. We'll have to see how things transpire but for now the Knicks are in the hunt for a top pick.

In terms of Free Agents not all of them are going to be able to go to a winning team or stay with the one they are on. The Knicks will have good money to offer and some Agents will want to steer their clients to this market. Despite the losing this year there will be some positive energy after the draft. Starting spots on a remade New York Knicks Roster will be a positive thing for many FA's.

I hear you folks, New York no longer has the allure that it once had. Our sport teams have been in the bottom of the pile the last decade; other cities have caught up to us. I sure as hell hope that Phil can amass a winning group, because I have been suffering for way to darn long. I am very patient; we will see
