This is good for him. Now he gets a chance to get burn in the same system as opposed to riding the bench

Yeah but it's sad how our young talent is having

A tough go breaking through in this system under this coach

He better go down there and rip it up

He should be able to provide them with some insight and yet learn more

Good day! Cleanthony Early has become a Westchester Knick:

Jan. 30 – New York Knickerbockers announced today that the team has assigned Cleanthony Early to the Westchester Knicks of the @nbadleague
— NY_KnicksPR (@NY_KnicksPR) January 30, 2015
This is probably just for the weekend- the W-Knicks have a home back-to-back tonight and Saturday (in which Cle will participate) and the Knicks are staying put for a bit, so it'd be easy to go back and forth.

I think this is great! Early hasn't been getting a ton of minutes for reasons ranging from an apparent ankle injury to Carmelo Anthony's continued presence (which is not great). Westchester provides a free chance for Cle to spin, especially with the schedule working out so nicely.

Meanwhile Early is still under contract with the Knicks. Assigning him does not open a roster spot.

This is a fine way to use the D-League. I look forward to watching the Cle-nasis duo get back to work against Sioux Falls.

Good question. I suspect not but I'm not 100% sure. Curious move too, huh? We're terrible, yet Fish hasn't really been getting him consistent mins. since he's made it back from knee surgery. Guess this also means Melo's not shutting it down anytime soon, which is a mistake imho but whatever...Did Melo really need to play last night on the 2nd game of a back to back? I mean Jeez -- tank it out to ensure a top 1-4 pick, try to find a way to add another cheap piece or 2 to audition and protect Melo, your $125mm investment. That's all they need to do. Pretty simple yet they seem to be having so much trouble dealing with all 3...

If he was a blue chip talent then he would be on the court. He is a 2nd round rookie. No need to rush him when you are trying to establish a style of play. If he's any good he will get a chance one day. If not he will ride someone's bench or play overseas.

Same for Wear who went undrafted. Neither guy has solidied a spot on the roster next year.

Galloway has produced a it in the system so he's being given a chance

It just makes no sense to try and blame his struggles on Fish when Early has had injuries. One of which required surgery. This is a tough style of play for even vets to grasp and then you put kids in this situation with all the turmoil and turnover and it's just not as easy as it could be on a more stable roster with a simpler system. Not to mention that Fish is a rookie himself. This is good for Early and we just need to give him time to develop. His real development will come in the summer when he can train on his skills and get stronger.

Dude no one is flourishing in this system

Name a player having a remote career yr this yr

Was Early playing the same quantity of minutes as Galloway

Before he went under the knife, no he wasn't

No one is really being developed

Instead this season has been like players showing up to an American Idol audition

They were either hot for that day, that week, or that month

But being a standout top performer we've seen nothing of the sort

In particular from our young talent

On one hand you say don't blame the coach, and in the next sentence you say the coach is a rookie, sounds contradictive

Early has the demeanour of a much younger player, he just doesn't come across as being ready D league is a good idea for him

Your just looking for FishPoints to connect your dots.
What Have you seen in early that warrants Time?
Let him play in the Dleague a few games. Allstar game is coming, maybe he wants him in shape for the rest of the season and will have more time there.

Obviously, we can't afford to allow a rookie to play through his mistakes what with every game being so important.

With each passing day I lose more and more faith in this front office.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Half a season in and he's been injured. He might still be the steal. Does it pleasure you to potentially be "RIGHT" on this?
Are you empowered by some illusion you can call out Phil Jax on an internet thread?

Yeah instead of all the Early declarations

Maybe we should be reasonable in all things

He has to go down to the DL but there was an opportunity to do more with him when he was healthy

This is the first season we're actually using the d league properly- there's no point in just throwing a rookie who isn't ready out there, all it does is destroy their confidence. This is what d league is for- you assign players there for experience, and to help them get ready, that why it's the Development league.

We can't afford to have our young players develop bad habits playing on a team with a loser mentality. We already seen how it can stunt their growth with Shumpert and THJ under Woodson and earlier this year. Those guys would've been more productive playing on a team with a winning culture and structure like San Antonio, OKC or Chicago. Fix the culture first so that young players can excel
