Melo had a very good game tonight. Not only did he score efficiently by trying to draw as much contact as possible and get to the line, but he got everybody involved today, when he drove to the basket he kicked it out to the open player when there was one and from there they would either score or move it to someone with a better shot. His defense wasn't the best but I'm really happy with what he did on offense tonight, this is what makes you a top ten player in the NBA.

On a side note this team did well, Jason Smith added a 3 to his game;thus, being able to spread the floor, Galloway with another highlight 3 and was great on defense today and Lance Thomas FINALLY knocked down those open shots he was getting. Amundson was good on D too. THJr showed some improvement too by driving to the rim and not ALWAYS jacking up 3s although he still did do it every now and then (9 FTS!! there have been games where we couldn't even crack 5).

Those who think melos stink or we should trade him for ending contracts and a 2027 2 and rounder don't look at numbers. While we lost we were competetive w mkelo. When he went down our differential went haywire. What's wrong with developing players and have melo mandated to fix himself for next year

Probably because Melo is what he is and there ain't no "fixing himself."
BTW, nice gamepicker tonight, Briggs.

He did but Percy this wasn't the first time

In Melo's career where he's played team oriented

The problem with him is doing things on his terms

Which has proven to be a more a detriment to peak team success

Throughout his entire career, we'll see if this is sustainable

Or a typical tease act from him

This was not a superb game nor did he score efficiently. He missed too many open shots and forced a few contested ones too. He had some defensive lapses too. I did like that he started passing more after the timeout in the 2nd qtr though. HE still needs to pass more though and look to dish off his penetration.

^^^the back court shot 11-22 if you don't count Hardaway. That hasn't happened in a long time. Jason Smith did what Bargs is supposed to do. Lance and Lou just hustle and play smart. This was a team win. Melo is better in a team concept. The Knicks played like a team.

this was one of those games where both team weren't really into until the second half... and jason smith and lance thomas played about as well as you could hope and harris and oladipo shot horribly..

and vucevic played outstanding on offense and was a nonfactor on defense... which is why the magic won't do anything until they find a defensive big to pair him up with...

Most of those came from first quarter. He did pass more though off his penetration, it was not everytime that they were all open.

I'm hip. I saw it in the game vs the Pelicans and many other games over the course of his career here with the Knicks. I'm not getting my hopes up though because for all we know, tommorow vs CHA he could try and beat his 62 career high against them and it would be a fiasco. We can only hope.

Looking at the game again. His court impact in the 4th was huge. He scored, he passed, and he created open shots for other players.

They're looking at a more complete set of #s than you are. You're looking at only production, not both the cost and production. He costs only a little less than the entire starting lineups for San Antonio, Atlanta, or Toronto. I do think we can get more than just an expiring contract for him, though.

Exactly, comparing this game to his dire performances of always wanting to go iso and disrupting the team play, I think he played very well, he played as part of a team and gave his teammates more confidence in what they were doing.

It is amazing what fresh blood can do for a talented player like Carmelo. He is communicating better, passing to open shooters, attacking the basket, defending, etc. I credit Langson, Admunson, and the other young guy. Imagine what we could be like had these dude been here since the beginning of the season?
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

I wouldn't say he shot efficiently, he missed alot of shots, but he did have a more team oriented game last night. Good to see in that aspect.

But when team mates actually make shots it naturally makes your play look better.
