Were the Pistons a favorite to win the whole thing, or are they just like the Knicks, but with better pieces? Not a superstar on the team, and they outplayed the Lakers and won the finals. Knicks have a slim chance of winning, but do you guys think if Isiah adds more pieces and gets rid of Shandon, and a few other bad contracts that the Knicks can make it to the finals. I mean, if the Pistons can do it, MAYBE the Knicks can.

Let's look at this. The Knicks will get better, but a sweep from the Nets in the pathetic eastern conference, minus the Pistons and Pacers, do you guys think they can make a magical run like they did in 1999 when the Spurs won the title (tained season)? I think that anyone who comes out of the east, has a 50/50 chance against Lakers/Spurs/T'Wolves, but the KNICKS need to get better otherwise they won't even make it past the first round again?

It just amazes me. Not a superstar on the team of the Pistons and they win. Wow. Congrats to them.

Well, 1 year ago, I predicted that the Knicks would be champs in 2007.

sweep by nets? WITHOUT TIM THOMAS AND H20 during home court and they lost by just a couple points, im sure those two would have made the difference, besides teh fact that houston could shoot 4x better than shandon... come on reason each game out... that would've meant 2-2 with defending eastern conference finals.... pretty impressive for a team that was "doomed" till 07'-08'

the bottom line is we won 39 games and we went out 4-0 getting blown out twice. Houston may never be able to be counted on again and Tim Thomas was in the games we got whooped by 20 points+. There is no what IFS in sports, there never has been never will be. The Pistons have unusually long players and a bunch of very good players[close to all star level hamilton billups wallace wallace] with a great deal of athletiscm. They are better than us at every position except PG and their bench is better. And dont tell me Tim Thomas is better than Prince because he's not. TP plays TWO ways and you could see his incredible potential taking the ball to the basket with ease and posting up--- not to mention he played incredible D on Kobe. Kobe would score 40 a night on TT. We are miles behind Detroit--a team that should only get better the next 2-3 years.

the Pistons were smart enough to trade their star SG Stackhouse while his value was at its peak...what they got in return was a very talented young SG who would grow into THE perfect complement for the type of game they are running now...an energizer bunny who never gets tired & gives defenders fits trying to cover him...Rip Hamilton.

i think Isiah has the guts to make moves like this, whereas Scott Layden never would have had the foresight...only question is what resources does he have left after that Marbury trade last year that will get us a star potential player? maybe Jamal Crawford can be that player?

Exactly; the time to trade Houston was right after last season. If he returns healthy and starts playing well, then that's when you trade him.

using the sweep by the nets to show how bad we are is pointless.

Our team had no history, a short half of a season to learn to play together.

Alright briggs, we got destroyed twice.

You saw the blown outs and I see a great learning experience.

That's why we lost by only a few points the 2 following games.

Games we may - or may not - have won with our 2 mising starters.

Don't break your reputation of a great knowledgeable fan (basketball wise) just by saying we would not have been better with TT and houston instead of shandon and penny in the starting five.

We're on the path. We're better than most of us think.

BUT WE NEED FREACKING HELP IN THE PAINT.

That's what killed us for many yrs. Having paint defense allows better perimeter defense as guards can pressure, take some risks and gamble. The things ours guards can't allow themselves to do.

A few changes here and there, we could frighten everybody in the league. Enough to win a championship ? Definitly no.
But a good start to earn respect.

One step at a time.

Nah man the time to trade Houston was before he signed that long and expensive contract. Knicks should have let him walk and went with Sprewell.

Things happen for a reason.....if everything didn't happen the way it did the Knicks wouldn't have Isiah Thomas and Marbury right now.

I think Isiah has a well thought out plan in place of what he feels his team should look like in order to win a championship.

Right now the Knicks can't mess with any of the top teams because they can't competete with the athletic front courts out there.

I will come I have confidence.

you're view of the knicks is at such an extreme, it's not even funny. when you don't acknowledge the factors that resulted in us losing 4-0 or winning "only" 39 games and chalk it up to just us being a bunch of scrubs, you put your arguments on shaky ground.

tim pretty much only played in the first game. this is the first time allan has been hurt, why can't he come back? it's not like he's a slasher and defensive stopper. he's a freakin jump shooter.

and tayshaun is not better than tim. he fits the piston's system perfectly, that's why he looks like a star. tim was looking pretty good here also before he got hurt. remember, he missed about 1/4 of the 20 games he was here and we didn't get a chance to see him in the playoffs.

and don't compare position by position. it's all about who plays the best as a team as the pistons and spurs have proven.

didn't you want to blow up the team and build through the draft? didn't the bulls prove already that approach doesn't work? you're whole philosophy is "i hope this guy pans out".
