Something like 4 years 4mm with the first 2 years guaranteed for( 1.45m 525 and 916k) 1.2 1.5 team options so we lock him for 4 years. Its almost a no brainer. Hes already proven to be a worth back up player at worst.

I'd kinda agree, but its early still. We also declined Larkin's option, so not sure if this org is more concerned with young talent vs. cap room.

Galloway would only get 1/3 of what Larkin wouldve gotten.

I believe they can start Galloway at 515K if they do what the spurs do and go 2 years guaranteed 2 year team options--its a 4 year 4mm contract and we can get out after two years. Its the smallest contract you can have while the team has the rights to him longer term. Obviously he is under a 10 day 2nd contratc but if we just sign him for the rest of the year--if he plays well --you never know what can happen. There are 15 roster spots its a good move. Heck they should be happy one of their guys has some what panned out.

Don't know exactly what they will sign him for, but it is pretty obvious that they have liked him for a long time, and I believe he went to Westchester with the understanding that he would be called up at some point and eventually given a contract.

We know that they are going to keep him after the second 10 day contract is up- it will be interesting to see if they take your advice.

Played the most minutes on the W Knicks while he was there, and I expect that was done on Phil's orders.

He still needs some polishing, especially as a ball handler and decision maker, but he seems to me to be at least a 15-25 MPG combo guard.

Not the quickest guy, but with time and intelligence, he should be able to learn opponent tendencies and compensate for his lack of pure speed.

Goes to the basket better than I thought he could, and seems to have good extension with either hand. Also has some decent strength.

As they've said on the broadcasts, the guy is a player.

Not signing Larkin might have also meant that Phil did not like his game. There is also the possibility that he was already thinking of the necessity to keep a player like Galloway, even while he was playing with the W.Knicks.

I think Jackson wants talent that is going to stick and play the kind of BB he wants played. I thought he should have picked up Larkin's option- I guess he has a different view of Larkin's future value than I have.

I agree he could be a backup at worst. Dude has a wingspan comparable to Rondo, was leading his position in rebounding in the D-League, was leading the D-League in steals, and was top 5 in defensive win shares as a guard impressive. He's been a great shooter since St. Joe's and he's shown the stroke in the NBA. With his defense and shooting dude is the perfect Triangle PG think BJ Armstrong and Derek Fisher.

Larkin is trash...

There is merit to going after 4 year college players.
First off they are likely mature fully educated highly experienced physically prepared etc... an example of that above was Dreymond Green David Lee etc.. players tend to lose value as they stay in school and or they develop like Rakeem Christmas has this year. There are 7-8 really good senior prospects to look at that will likely be taken with 2nd round picks or undrafted. I tend to like pure basketball players with all around skills over top notch athletic guys up and own the roster. Now you do need top athletes but you fill the roster out with basketball players who compliment the top guys.

Agreed with everything you said except that I wouldn't call Larking trash. Galloway is a much better prospect, though, and I would definitely lock him up now.

What do you like about Larkin? He's way too small to defend gets murdered all he's good for is steals. Not a good playmaker, it's like he's too fast for his own good sometimes. He can't finish around the basket shooting 19% from 3-10 feet. All he brings is penetration and a bit of spot up shooting. I don't see him as a valuable asset at all or a long term player.

I don't think he is trash but this is not a system for him. He needs the ball out high coming off of screens.

With the right team, Larkin could be a nice spark plug player who can occasionally be a spot starter. Not sure the Knicks under Jackson are that "right team."

Larkin has had a few good moments this year- he's also been exploited because of his size at times, and shown some of his limitations as a players because of it.

At the very least, I would like to see him get some good playing time the rest of the year so we can see if he is worth spending some money on the next few years.

My guess is that Phil is going to pass on signing him.

Personally, I'd like to see more games b/4 I'd throw the dog a bone.
He has been good in a few games and non-existent in a few, too.
I'd like to see more consistency from Galloway, but I do like his energy.

Hes proven he deserves it and this is through a few bad games as well. That contract would only be dedicated to paying him through next year at minimum YET the team would hold option years on 3 and 4. The Spurs almost always do this and I see Danny Ferry started doing this with the Hawks on cheap players. Basically you are taking their rights for 4 years for just over a million bucks. If they earn in--then they get their cash. On the team side hopefully you get a player who can play above the contract and fit as part of the team below the 12 th man. If we just gave 5 game samples of Prigs Calderon Larkin and Galloway---Galloway wouldve been taken first. We have more homework than just his 5 games here--this really is the bottom part of the test.

To me, this guy's Chris Duhon. Not to say that's terrible. Duhon wasn't terrible -- he had his fair share of 20-pt games back in his day. So similar it's eerie really -- they're both around 6'2", both shoot the 3 ball pretty well, Duhon was also considered hard-nosed and a defensive player in his early days (Duke, Chicago)...They even look a lot like each other. Almost identical games--Duhon may actually have been a little quicker with and without the ball. After we saw a lot of Duhon up close those couple of seasons though, didn't it become apparent that we needed more at that position after a while?

Not trying to take anything away from this kid -- he's had a decent run so far and deserves credit (equal parts decent and poor so far to be fair--even tonight where he made some shots, had another putback slam almost identical to the one he had against HOU which was nice but then had some really poor shots when he was pressured with the shot clock running down--I remember 2 back to back when NO closed the lead to around 5 late). We could do a lot worse I suppose...He's been our best story by far this year (which really isn't saying much at all, no offense to Galloway) but I don't see "it" necessarily, as in a real standout player. He can't create a lot off the dribble, pretty slow. I dunno man. Dude's a tweener that's OK at a few things, not great at anything. Meh....His game reminds me too much of Calderon's and Prigioni's to be honest. Having said that, what you're proposing isn't unreasonable. I bet we wind up offering him something like that.

Personally, I'd like to see us go after a truer/faster, more dynamic type of PG. The Knicks should want that for themselves too. And if it's a legit 2G we're after, gimmie someone a little bigger, 6'5" or better... I really wish they'd give Bryce Cotton a look. I think the Garden would absolutely LOVE Cotton. I've seen a ton of that kid in the DL this year--he's better in every area over Galloway. And 6'5" 220 lb. Orlando Johnson's the legit 2G I'd look to add (along with 6'7" Kevin Murphy who went over to China, maybe for the rest of the year--when his deal's up in China, I'd grab him--Murphy could be a real force of a scorer at the SG position for next year). Galloway would be in my mix for next year but go get me these other 3 guards and let them compete against Galloway head to head and then let's see...I have trouble handing Galloway anything at this point. I think we can flat out do better at each guard position.

Yep fill this team up with solid defensive players, spot up shooters, and hustle players to solidify the bench Galloway should be the first four years at around a mil a year. Our bench next year should be Galloway,Greek, early, amare, also I'd go after Seth curry, and a hustle back up center ... Hopefully next year so towns or ok4, milsap, melo, thjr, drogic with that back up core mentioned above would be a solid team having backups that only cost around a mil a year minus amare is great and if they come up are great trade chips

CA, Tim Hardaway JR, Calderon are all too weak defensively
While they could be usefull players on limited roles, they cannot all play together because of their inability to defend while on the court TOGETHER
It is why the loss of Lin/Parson's in Houston has improved Houston

I have said that long ago and it wasn't a knock on Galloway
He is not a great penetrator but can spread the floor, defend 1-2 positions, and set up the team without penetration like the standard PG's and the past Triangle PG's, making him a good fit

Duhon is probably a better PG, but Galloway is much more athletic. Same vert at Wade when he was drafted. Galloway has hops for sure. It comes down to his jumper I think. If he can hit that he will stick. If not he's Toney Douglas

I think Galloway should be signed to a multi year highly cost restrictive deal
