I'm going to focus more on Okafor's defense

From here on out, I know what he brings offensively

I did the same thing starting last game. He had a few good defensive possessions last game, still needs more effort IMO.

Duke looks like they're running a modified Triangle with Okafor in the pivot. Saw that last game and now again it looks very familiar.

Last game Coach K went to this 2-3 zone and it's worked for them. They switch out of it but when they go to it they have some success with it. OK4 doesn't really go hard for the block but then he is also trying to stay out of foul trouble. That's what it looks like to me.

See Okafor has to contest drives harder than that

I know big guys are more cognizant of their fouls but still

They were running a triangle like set a few trips down

You know it just dawned on me why they go to the 2-3 zone with Okafor. He's not good out on the perimeter so this kind of protects him from having to do that. Plumlee is more mobile and agile so they can play more man D.

That could be a problem as bigs operate further from the basket in the NBA

Like I said I'm only interested in his defense at this point

I want to see more Andre Drummond in him

Oh wow Okafor that was nice, great finish

Very good passer out of the double team previous possession

Stood strong on the drive went straight up

And the dribble driver didn't budge him

Duke playing 2-3 matchup is partly due to Okafor. But like the nba and nfl, college bb is also a copy cat league. With syracuse's success with the 2-3 and Louisville winning the championship with their version of a 2-3 matchup, the match up zone has been all the rage of college an HS BB for the last couple of years. A lot of college teams are playing matchup zones now a days.

Just started watching the game for a bit.

Not impressed with OK4's helping D at all.

Also saw some plays where he did not even think to box out off the shot.

Unfair for me to be too judgmental, but he seems somewhat uninspired at a time when a killer instinct might help your team put the game away early.

Ive already seen enough of Okafor this year to know he is far and away the best player. He'll need to work on a few fundamentals as he is only 19 but from his point to the next player is far and wide.

I like Omafor offensive game, but it is limited. I like WCS or his partner's game a lot more. They more agile, and are better defenders
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

is anyone concern with him coming out of Duke? I can not think of a player from Duke since Battier that came out with good defensive fundamentals. I think that would be the first think that a coach needs to focus on with him.

He is but his defense could be an issue

Especially if a team were to pick him relying on his offense in the system

But what if he's not able to stay on the court defensively

He needs major improvement here

Larry Brown said Mudiay is the best guard he's ever seen

At this age you still want to see him play to gauge the weaknesses

Although understood Mudiay is overseas hurt and not playing

looks like Anthony Davis like talent that would need to build up to me, so if all goes well, in 2-3 seasons he could be a franchise caliber talent if he continues to develop both physically and his skills

Really wish we had a chance to do a true evaluation of his game.

Playing would also help his game mature.

Any chance that he plays in organized ball again?

Tough to take a guy with so little significant data to go on.
