Completely agree with the sentiment here. We're not nearly as aggressive as we should be given our situation. It's sad.
Looks like we whiffed on JaMychal Green, not much we can do about that now, and the Kings picked up Quincy Miller (talented although I don't quite see the fit next to Melo moving forward--maybe I'm wrong and we should've taken a look) but there are still plenty of good prospects in the DL we should be willing to take a closer look at -- guys that should fit together with the type of team we need to assemble:
Khem Birch - 6'9"+, huge wingspan, leaper, very adept shot-blocker, rebounder/dirty-work player. How'd this guy look next to the scoring big we hope to add (Jahlil Okafor in the draft, Enes Kanter maybe in FA maybe, etc.)? Pretty good if you ask me. Would it hurt to bring him in now to take a closer look? Come on, Phil. Wake up!
Bryce Cotton - sorry but he's a better PG prospect than Langston Galloway. Unbelievable to me that they don't feel that way. Dude just dropped 40 in the DL Showcase...Yeah, I'll give them credit for giving Galloway a chance to a certain extent but when there's a better PG available who's out there for the taking, you adjustment accordingly. Why the 2nd 10-day contract for Galloway when Cotton's still out there?? Yeah, I heard Philly wants him but so what -- swoop in and take this kid. We should want him! See the value - I see a very good backup PG here, someone to pair with the starting caliber PG I hope they look to add (Mudiay in the draft? Brandon Knight in FA?). This guy's clearly better than Galloway, better than a lot of NBA PGs around 6': DJ Augustin, our own Shane Larkin.. He reminds me of Patty Mills with a tad more PG skills... Think about how a guy like Mudiay or Brandon Knight/Goran Dragic backed up by Bryce Cotton would look compared to the dreck we've had to deal with at PG for years now...What the F are we doing? We're asleep at F'ing wheel man, I swear..
Orlando Johnson - 6'5" 220 lb SG. A better overall player than THJ in every area. Definitely worth a look. Someone explain to me how we trade away 2 big rotation 2Gs the other day (6'5" & 6'6") and then don't bother to bring in at least 1 comparable replacement...Give Utah credit -- Patrick Christopher goes down (a nice signing to beginning with) and they immediately bring in Elliot Williams and Elijah Millsap, 2 viable replacements. Whether you like those 2 players or not, you can see where the Jazz are going--they're at least attempting to fill a void with equal or superior talent. What are we doing?
