Why would we want Farmar? What's the purpose? Genuinely curious. Cause he sucks. To further our tanking ability?

Didn't he win a championship playing in the triangle? Precisely the reason why he would be a good asset. He knows the dumb system, and would be able to help the player to better understand what is being asked of them

Yep. Haven't seen him this year but he was always solid. Seems like there are a lot worse choices for roster spots on the Knicks. It would be different if they were filling out the bench with young guys. If you are going with solid but marginal vets for the two previously vacant roster spots why not bring in a guy that knows the system the coach is trying to teach.
