it would be silly to call him up. Plus he is not ready.

Yeah, the kid still needs to work on his J.

Yea and JR thought his bro was the cheese also.

I think its contractual. They need him stay in the D league for the year so he doesnt have a cap hold or something silly like that.

Besides, let him stay in the D league and get reps. He's getting good PT there and really fills out the stat sheet. He's right where he belongs.

I honestly haven't seen the kid play but

Crush was dropping links a few weeks back gushing over his play in the NBDL

Paul Milsap's brother recently got called up

And if he's not ready to be called up yet on this horrific team devoid of talent

Then maybe Phil needs to figure out what Allan Houston and Nem is doing

I don't know how the cap factors with picks and NBDL call ups

This is interesting if so, here's what Paul Milsap is making or on the books for

Elijah Millsap $301,417

I read that the reason Thanasis hasn't being called up is because he's a second round pick. The Knicks are trying to wait till the season is over so they can sign him and take full advantage of the 2nd round contract rules. Basically squeeze another year out of him before his next contact.

Why don't you learn the rules before spewing more of your hate. Ignorance is bliss

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Not ultra complicated to understand the circumstances

I openly admitted I didn't know the rules and no one knows everything

But let's role with the supposed financial burden it creates here's our situation with him

The way this works is that Antetokounmpo will sign with the D-League itself. He won't be paid or under contract to the Knicks, nor the Knicks' D-League affiliate. Under a new rule stipulated last year by the NBA, if a second-round pick elects to sign with the D-League, the club that holds his draft rights can assign him to their affiliate.

The Knicks will own and operate the team's basketball operations department, but not the roster. So Antetokounmpo will learn under coaches taking direction from New York's front office, and be monitored and developed in tune with their desires, just not on roster with the team. They also can't "call him up" as is done with most D-League players. To do so, they'll have to sign him to a standard second-round deal.

So unlike being an undrafted player who's in the d-league

Possibly being called up on some 10 dayer or whatever we have to

Reach deep into Dolan's empty penny bank and pay him a prorated 2nd round deal

That he and his agent would agree to

Judging by his brother's comments seems like he'd accept a guaranteed contract

Johnny O'Bryant who we'll see tomorrow was drafted

A couple slots ahead of Thanasis and here's his salary

Player 2014/15 2015/16 2016/17 2017/18

J'Bryant $600,000 $845,059 $980,431 $1,251,245

Team Options 2yrs after this season

We're seriously sweating those numbers

I think I posted links to how well he is playing but I wouldn't bring him up. He is in a situation similar to Pierre Jackson last year. The Knicks have his rights but they aren't paying him and he doesn't hold a salary slot. He can develop for the Knicks in Westchester. He has improved a lot from last year. Hopefully that continues. The roster spot is better used on another potential future piece. Also, what would you expect his brother to say?
