Say we miss out on pick 1 and get pick 2 or even if we do get pick 1 (even more enticing for the Bucks) --- let's say for argument's sake it's pick 2:

Pick 2 for Brandon Knight and pick 17.

We get the PG we need (dude's a top 7-8 NBA PG, good possibility he cracks the top 5 not before long and he's got years of top play ahead of him) and with pick 17 we take a big like Kaminsky or this kid Portis.

Then in FA, we go get DeAndre Jordan to board like a demon and protect the rim. (I'd love to get Enes Kanter but Utah would be crazy not to match any offer I'm thinking -- Also, I'd hate to take a guy like Cauley-Stein to compliment Kanter and then not be able to get Kanter).

The Bucks keep all of their big men in the deal, they get something for Knight who they may not want to pay big money to anyway and with pick 2 they take either Towns (a truer C type to compliment all of there pogo stick athletic 4s) or they take Mudiay to replace Knight.

We play the Bucks in London coming up here -- might be a good time to take John Hammond aside and start some dialogue.

Not perfect, needs to be hashed out a little better (we may need a little something else coming back, esp. if we ever thought about trading pick 1), but I dunno--make any sense for us?

Brandon Knight plus a low pick isn't nearly enough compensation. I think you need back an accomplished "star" like Boston got with Ray Allen back in 2000 whatever. Knight is having a good season but I don't think it's enough.

I don't think you can trade for a RFA in the off season like that anyway.

we have so many holes I think the notion of trading back makes some sense - but we're also far from competing, I think, and need as many young, cheap players as possible.

Restricted. Part of the deal would be that he agrees to sign an extension with us.

Unless you can't do that like Yellow's saying. I'm not sure.
