I moved Portis up to 5 and hes darn close to moving to either 3 or 2.

He's never really mentioned and sits on mock drafts in the 20's but he's proving to be way better than that. He has the same size as Jermaine Oneal at 19 6-10 245 and he has the in/out game with versatility that a 4/5(mainly 4) needs. He was a better shot blocker as a freshmen but he has it in his arsenal of skills.

His best game as a freshmen against not cupcake teams was 35 points 9 rebounds 6 blocks against Alabama. He just had 32 points 11 rebounds 4 s teals against Vanderbilt Saturday. They just posted a video of that game on DX. He actually scores on pace with Jahill Okafor their stats are relatively close. He plays hard on both sides of the ball and looks to be easily separating himself from "the pack" and he becomes a serious contender for our lottery pick if this continues. He s a two way player and hes an in/out big. he's mobile athletic and highly- skilled and can handle the basketball @ 6-10 has been lauded as a hard worker.

He looks like Chris Bosh 2.0 IMO.

Thats a pretty good comp. He really looks like a guy who could go #2 or 3 in this draft if he continues his great play.

Briggs.....what's your take on Robert Upshaw?
I see that you have him ranked #20 in your recent mock.
I watched a few clips on him and saw that he's a superior shot blocker with a big body.

Ive seen him a few times--he's a little slow for what I like but hes an NBA shot blocker rim protector who can score a bit. I wouldnt waste a 1 on him but a 2 is a different story. I think we can find a center in the 2nd round this year.

Really I feel a LOT depends if we get pick #1 or not. I'd be shocked and upset if we got pick #1 and went a different route(not taking Ok4) because Phil Jackson wa s trying to implement his style of basketball.

That's a sweet-looking silky J that Portis has!
He's pretty impressive when he plants his feet and squares up to the basket.
I see a little of KG the way he shoots his J with confidence.

Has that high release- different, but effective and hard to block- he's even shot well from downtown this year. Over 70% FT shooter.

Saw the DraftExpress match-up video that they have. Saw some lateral movement on D, and he had a number of steals that game.

They play Kentucky the end of February... that should be interesting, since from this point on, he will not be playing against a lot of teams currently ranked.

Worth keeping a tab on.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

You are right it will be intriguing when they play Kentucky. Impressed with what I've see. From this guy but we need to see more. hopefully Arkansas is in the tournament so we can get a clear look
