Recent reports claimed that Phil is not looking to cut nor trade Amare. They are even saying that Kniks may re-sign him for cheap. If that is the case folks, I venture to say that the Knicks will continue to be irrelevant for the next five years. I sure as hell hope that Phil does not make such mistake; the quicker he can eliminate Amare of this team, the brighter our future will be.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Phil likes his heart, attitude and hard work (plus his play has been pretty good and consistent this year. He is not the problem. I think after the deadline we'll ask if he wants a buyout (if he does, I see him signing with the Suns), or if he wants to ride this thing through to the end of the season. We won't re-sign him unless he comes very cheap. I see no problem.

This dude is a reminder of all bad things to ever happen to the Knicks. Bad contract to a guy who has not even played a total of 100 games since he signed the contract

Amare as a $3 Million back-up is different than Amare as a $20 Million broken down starter. Reminders mean squat. It's if/how a player will work towards a successful roster.

STAT hasn't been out in the same way that Bargs has. STAT has had some serious genetic issues that were outside of his control and he has worked extremely hard to come back. He's never really taken the easy way out. IMO I think he's going to have to retire but if he actually is capable of playing he'd be fine as a low minute reserve.

Agree amare at 3 mill for a 20 min back up is a good deal

The only way you can bring STAT back is if he accepts his role. His body clearly won't allow him to do what he wants it to and that I feel for. However, if he cuts the s*** with the ridiculous comments, then it would be fine. If not, I don't see how that would help to "change the culture" as Phil is trying to do.

I used to think I'd be happy with Amar'e in a reserve role at the right price.

But not now.

Where the hell is the guy? Maintenance? What the Hell is that?

He has heart, but nothing left in the tank. Do not sign him, unless its an unguaranteed vet minimum deal and he is slotted in a Herb Williams, 13th, 14th, 15th man role.

Enough with the one dimentional players with this team. Stoudamire does not play winning basketball. On offense, You give him the ball, he never looks to pass it to an open player. Defensively, we already know he is the worse big man to ever play the game. I don't give a darn, even if he wants to play for free, we don't need this dude around.

Amare will never be content with being a 3mil backup. He has the heart of a superstar with the knees of a 60 year old. In his head he is still young Amare. He is always complaining about not playing enough and always feels phenomenal to play a game when he should be resting. This is the 2nd or 3rd time he said he felt great and then missed extended time after playing. It is time to cut ties with Amare.

he's not a triangle player and he does not defend the position. bye-bye stat
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

indeed, spend the $ on a guy you hope wont need to sit out games and can play some d. the guy on the decline with age and miles. even at "cheap" rates, there must be some other options.

There's no reason for a FA TO SIGN with the knicks other then a fat pay day. At the end of the season, we will need to fill 10 roster spots, and start from scratch trying to teach 10 new players a system no one seems to benefit from.

i would rather go with younger, cheaper guys than rehash things with any of the expiring cats on this team now. if that means scrubs, o well. this team has a lot of work to do. i dont expect anything great and i hope jackson doesnt either.

Are you saying we should suck next season with no draft pick, and possible no cap space, because your not going to get a player to sign a one yr deal to play in a system that seems to decrease players value.

they might regardless of what they do so its not a matter of should. they may simply not be good enough with all the problems they have to resolve in 1 off season

3 million for some decent production off the bench would be worth it for 3 mill, if Stat took that offer. Will probably put up better numbers than almost anyone else at that price.

I like Amare, but I definitely don't want him back.
He can't defend and he can't stay healthy. End of story.
