Although it might still be too make a declaration.

The owner is cheap but I just don't see letting Butler go

No disrespect to Rose, but Butler is the best player on the team now. They'd be crazy to let him go now.

its not BS.

Butler is one of the top players in the league on a good team.

there is no logic then would have him leaving.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Not yet - saying and doing are 2 different things.

What happens to this plan if Butler plays poorly in the playoffs or if the Bulls go out early in some type of upset?

Is Chicago still going to want to pay luxury tax --- we shall see.

This is the price we pay for not developing our own players for 30yrs

Now that Smith is gone I think Greg may decide to stay in Detroit. I believe that was one of his biggest complaints.

Like I said he was never an option

We'd only be doing Chicago a favor

By trying to sign him to a Max 4yr deal

The denial is so real and strong in this thread

How are we doing Chicago a favor if we signed Butler to a Max Deal? The only reason Chicago can be so confident is that they know the cap is going to explode with the new TV deal. It's not the end of the world if Chicago did in fact go full max on Butler. Butler's Agent will likely ask for an opt out like Lebron has so that he can sign an even bigger deal. A lot of players will be looking for contracts that allow maximum flexibility around that new CBA.

There are no guarantees in the Draft or Free Agency. You have to be in to win it tho! The Knicks will be in both and we just have to take our chances. In the end there are many different routes we can take with the cap space we will have. We don't have to only target the top guys, who are in good situations as there are always guys who will be looking for a better situation.

Because Chicago easily matches

And let's them off the hook on 5yrs of guaranteed salary

Gladly swapping it for 4, and the T.V. Deal isn't news

That just arrived at today's doorstep

Did you use this reason rationale when thinking

If we had a legit shot to snatch him away

Not to mention trying to soften the blow mentioning this

Is comical, it was one of the main reasons

Our very own Phil used to sign greaseball provolone face

"To that ridiculous contract" so to each his own as the saying goes.

Not really a surprise but it sure does suck. I'd still offer it, assuming he hits free agency, in hopes that Chicago declines the match.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

They'd match on the simple fact

He'd still be attractive at Max money

Make no offer and force the Bulls

To get a deal done at 5yrs chewing up their

Space and force them to be more concerned going

Forward about their books, and maybe him not remaining

Healthy over the contract since we're hopin, think of it this way

How would you feel if Melo had a 4yr deal instead of 5yrs.
