The Bulls are notoriously cheap and are on the verge of potentially adding a 3rd max player to their ledger, in Jimmy Butler. With the kind of depth that they have at the big man spots with Gasol, Noah and Mirotic, would they be inclined to move Gibson and replace him with a cheaper player to offset Butler's salary? I think a guy like Brandan Wright could fill in admirably in Gibson's role albeit as an inferior player. So can we realistically facilitate something like this? I'd be jumping the gun a bit but we'd have an amazing frontcourt if we managed to get Okafor in the draft and paired him with Gibson and Melo. Just food for thought.

like Reggie Jackson on another team that avoids that tax at all costs (like James Harden costs).

Its a possibility for sure and we could absorb that cap friendly deal with space alone.

Offer Butler the max.
Force them to match
Inquire about Gibson who they can no longer pay.

The Bulls can get way more than Gibson than we can offer. They wouldn't have to deal with us.

True, but we're not the only team that's going to have space and we have no draft picks to toss in. We could throw in THJ, but I dont think the bulls want him.

The old "Riley Squeeze move!!!" I don't recall the circumstances but he did that once and it worked!!!
