The first one that sticks out to me is Houston for Jason Terry who's an expiring contract....We would immediately waive him.

there are others that they mentioned http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2322207-best-potential-trade-packages-scenarios-and-landing-spots-for-jose-calderon But this Calderon for Terry trade would be perfect in my eyes.

Thoughts?

But Terry is a better player than Calderon.

Why do all of these sound too optimistic to me? Why are teams giving us expirings + second rounders to take on Calderon's 2+ years at $20+ million?

Terry is a hell of a leader. He is a good veteran to have on the bench
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Not even Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan could motivate this crew.

Because some GMs in the league have no sense of self preservation? They want their kids to be homeless and starve?

Practical trades appear, at least on the surface and time and place, as win/wins for both franchises. At least push/push.

Sadly a lot of basketball fans believe trades, instead of win/win, should be gang prison rape then golden shower party/complete submission and then begging to get pissed on some more while the team's owner fires you.

Calderon, on his own, I don't think he's movable. The Knicks need to wait on looking to move him, accept he's stuck with them, or package assets to move him if they are that desperate to get him off the roster.

Dolan create the illusion for fans that this gang prison rape trades are happening a lot... but its only Knicks were getting raped...

Just meant that the teams overall talent level is low, old and young, and that no coach or leader could mold them into anything much more than what we are seeing and besides, why would we want that? We need as many ping pong balls as possible. The debate on Derek Fisher Coach is not one to be having now but next season. Right now the man is part of a finely tuned Tanking machine that is poised to not win another game for quite a while and simply for that he gets my salute.

Maybe Phil can work his Jordan connections with the Hornets and dump him and cash for Gary Neal (expirer), Brian Roberts ($2 million per, one more season) and a trade exception. The Hornets could benefit from a shooter, especially at PG and have the defenders on that team to mask his play on that end of the floor.

If not them, the Kings are bound to do something stupid with Randieve at the helm. I'd do Calderon, and cash for Derrick Williams (expirer) and Ramon Sessions ($2 million per, one more season). A young team with the talent to win could benefit from Calderon's leadership. And since firing Malone, the Kings are trying to play a more speedier offense, which suited Calderon well during his career.

We also can't forget how historically stupid the Pelicans are (aka lets try to trade CP3 for Odom, Scola, Martin and NO PICKS). They need a steady veteran backup and so I can see them having interest in Calderon. Fredette, Rivers and Salmons works for Calderon and Cleanthony Early (who I've been indifferent to since being drafted).

The most compelling trade offer I saw (besides Calderon for Terry, which I proposed months ago) was this one...

Oklahoma City Thunder Get: Jose Calderon, Jason Smith, two future second-round picks

New York Knicks Get: Reggie Jackson, Kendrick Perkins

Calderon could go back to playing the limited role he had with the Mavericks, since Westbrook is nothing more than a better and younger Monta Ellis. Westbrook is a **** floor general, so I could see the Thunder benefitting tremendously if they move him to the 2-spot as often as possible. But as a team that has historically been cheap, I'm not sure that the Thunder would be inclined to assume the $17.5 million that Calderon still has due unless we add sweetners (e.g. Cole Aldrich and a Shane Larkin). But I do like the spirit of the trade if OKC can overlook cost.

The Waiters deal took them over the cap. They are so ridiculously cheap that I think they'd be really hesitant to add even more, unfortunately.

Which is why I think they might trade Reggie for a second rounder at the deadline (they'll be holding out for a first but I don't think they will get one). I'm not too interested in getting him (I'd rather focus on Dragic and Mathews or even Beverly and Mathews as our back court)

Theoretically, the Knicks could take them back below the luxury tax threshold. The Thunder are only $2.3 million above and a trade like this one could save them $2.8 million:

Reggie goes at the deadline to the highest bidder. Knicks only have pocket change

I will wager you a crisp $10 note that they only get a second rounder for him (maybe two at most)!

Remember Reggie wants to start or he won't re-sign with the team he's traded to. That greatly cuts the number of suitors.

Is every team locked in with their starting PG? Lots of teams would give up at least a late #1 for the bird (RFA) rights to him. Worst case they match an offer but you figure the team that trades for him has intentions to resign him

^^ Boston traded Rondo. Who's their PG? You dont think they would trade the #21 pick (they own the Clippers) for him? I think OKC is holding out for at least that. Thats just one suiter that comes to mind

Marcus Smart. They seem to be rebuilding through the draft and probably wont spend major money on a FA right now even though he is young.
