There has been some discussion about the high profile would-be restricted free agents like Butler, Harris and Leonard and what team would put the expected max offer sheet on the table. The Knicks now looked primed to be one of those teams. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-am-knicks-could-have-34-1-million-in-capspace/ Also they said elsewhere that the Knicks will likely spend this offseason targeting 2nd and 3rd tire player, and then focus on a big player in 2016. That's absolutely the right thing to do- don't try and hit a home run this offseason, we can't fix it over night. Gamble with a max offer sheet with either Leonard or Butler (likely strike out), and just focus on a couple of 2nd tier guys. |
