This is his personal business to make something work for him.
I have no issue for him to stick around to have Dolan business-happy.
Casual fans also need some meat and selling off the Mecca.
I think Phil should have no issues too.
He may be even a big plus in properly constructed team with on-court leadership.
He actually was in 54-win season.
Obviously if his body will hold on.
STAT broke before we build anything competitive.
If I knew that he could average 60 healthy games a year for the remainder of his contract then I would be happy to keep him (assuming that phil can figure how to penetrate him).
You still don't think we can get better production out of $25 mil per?!
better than what?
Better than Melo. He's obviously unlikely to get better as he ages. So, let's generously say better than a slightly worse version of what we've had the past 4 years.
I think he impacts his teams success to the extent that you'd want from a guy making around $10 mil per.
eh ... if he played like he did last year and the year before, I think that he is worth 16-18 for the right team (e.g. Houston).
Not many players in years 13 to 16 play like they did in their best prime years. Even at 16 mil, that's a huge amount less than 25 mil anyway. He's just shiny candy. What do you like so much about him other than high PPG at sightly impressive efficiency? We've been a .400s team with him. I think this is just a case of what social scientists call the endowment effect (overvaluing something just because it's yours). If he was playing at this level on some other team, no one hear would be saying, "Let's go grab Melo and give him the largest contract in the league!" It's hard to say a) his contract is almost untradeable (which I think you did say) and b) I'm happy to have him at this contract for the next 4 years. If it's a good or even adequate bargain, why would no one want him?
I am not sure what you are saying or alluding to.
I don't think that he is worth his contract and I don't think that he has any real trade value.
I do not think that he will remain healthy for most of his remaining contract.
I don't think that his production will compare to last year or the year before. If it did, I think that he would be worth 16-18 million. But, I don't think he is/will be worth this since I don't believe that he will be able to sustain / achieve those levels.
For the most part, I am really disgusted with his play this year and I said that I will be very critical of him since he signed this ludicrous contract.
I was not that upset with him before the contract since I believe that we got what we paid for.
so here is what phil is thinking ....
