All I can say is thank you to New York. For every opportunity and valuable lesson I've learned in my time spent there. Thank you to the @nyknicks for being a first class organization and thank you to the fans for being insanely in love with the franchise. Support is everything. Love is love. One last toast to the #knickstape. Sometimes the business side of the game hurts...Hope the guys can turn it around. Off to #Cleveland #post90 #kidz

I want to thank Mr. Dolan and the Knicks organization for giving me the opportunity to play for such a storied franchise over the past few seasons. I want to thank my teammates for their support and guidance. Most importantly, I want thank the fans of New York who are some of the most passionate basketball fans in the world. Playing in my hometown has been incredibly special and I will be forever grateful for having had the chance to wear a Knicks uniform.
Though I look forward to starting a new chapter in Cleveland to join some of the best talent in the game in the quest for an NBA Championship, this great experience in New York will always stay with me.
Thank you again, fans. Your support means the world.

This comes from Phil. To me this is a legit sign of culture change and communication. These guys may have been dumped but they didnt *feel* dumped.

"nyknicks for being a first class organization" says alot. Much different from having a good employee escorted out by security.

I think it comes from these two realizing maybe how good they had it here


I think it comes from them learning lessons the hard way

And in then end self reflecting with maybe the chance to change and grow

Players who have opt outs or expiring contracts and branding concerns SHOULD always take the high road.
Very few players ever blast out against via trades unless they are reacting to a negative comment said about them.

Thus, if Knicks are taking the high road then no reason for anyone to be ugly. Spree was a situation that was bad both ways.
Marbury was untradable and had huge issues thru his career. Knicks have a history of taking care of its players and generally uphold what I think are hand shake agreements.
Example? Allan Houston was taken care of when he opted out and of course was Melo. Dolan was sympothetic to Vin Baker when he did not want. I recall that the team loaned Eddy money as well.

Isiah and Mcdcyss had issues but that it was basically Isiah came in after he was deeply inactive and not around the team much.

While I doubt we bring back shump, there are bridges that work both ways and nobody should burn them. JR story is well documented. Knicks treated him very well.
