Some guy on the espn board said he saw on regional sports report(which i watch occasionally and it seems to be a fairly reliable source)that new york and chicago are trying to work a deal that would send charlie ward, a re-signed lavor postell, and future picks to chicago for brad miller, ron artest, and aj guyton.

To me, even though we loose future picks, i would do it in a second. We can figure out a way to get draft picks later, but for now this is a pretty good deal for us.

PF Kurt Thomas, Clarence Weatherspoon, LJ.
SF Latrell Sprewell, Glen Rice.
SG Allan Houston, Ronald Artest.
PG Mark Jackson, AJ Guyton, Rice Brunson.
IR Travis Knight, Micheal Wright, Doug Overton.
We are weaker at the point guard, but i'm assuming Sprewell and Artest can chip in a play some point. Thoughts on this possible deal?

Without another signing or trade to provide NY with a solid point guard, I don't see this happening. AJ is not going to be able to provide solid backup minutes to Jax, who at his age needs alot of rest. Wouldn't mind picking up Artest and Miller, although getting Artest would clog the small forward position. Spree for Payton after this trade could solve it?

I'm not sure about that one. It would make us much weaker at the point. Which is an extremly important position. One that Sprewell has repeadtly said he is not comfortable at and from what we saw last year, is not that good at. Ron Artest would probably fair the same. I don't think it's worth it. Ron Artest is a shooting guard, a position we are adequately staffed at - hince paying Allen Houston 100 mill. The center, Brad Miller would be a plus, I think the shooting guard addition in Ron Artest would be a wash because we already have an abundance of perimeter players - Houston, Spree and Rice, and the point guard would be a total lost. We need to only trade if it can help us in the areas where we need it, center and point. Anything else to me would either make no difference or put us in a worse situation then we already are in.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

This just tells you that if new york were to do this deal, another one is probably coming. I think Spree and Artest would be more capable of playing the point against a zone defense. This deal would definetly give us more depth and trade bait. I still think it would be a good idea.

i woudltn do this unless we were unloading rice or weatherspoon in addition.
