Houston needs a two guard, they want to desperately trade away either Kelvin Cato or Maurice Taylor>>>

Wouldn't it be nice if NY can somehow get them involved on a three way deal with Portland???

Houston would rec': Allan Houston and Kurt Thomas

Portland would rec': Kelvin Cato, Cuttino Mobley and cash considerations from NY.

NY would get: Shareef Abdur Rahim, Ruben Patterson & Eric Piatkowski

------------------------------------------------->

Resign Dermarr Johnson and Vin Baker, and go hard after Jamal Crawford... Sign and trade Harrington and Frank Williams to make it work!

New NY Roster:
--------------
Mohammed/Baker/Mutombo
Abdur Rahim/Sweetney
T.Thomas/Patterson
Crawford/Johnson/Piatkowski/Anderson
Marbury/Hardaway/Norris

Trade Mutombo and Norris to a team that has expiring contracts and/or that needs a big man!!

Waive Shandon Anderson, He is a bum!!!!

I don't know how much JVG needs a 2 guard with Mobley and Francis being able to play that position. Really I think he is looking for a pass first point guard so Francis doesn't dominate the offense.

That may be true as well.. according to the tabloids, he isn't that fond of Stevie Franchise's playmaking skills, BUT he also has an issue with the lack of height in the backcourt, and would like to get some veteran leadership. Allan Houston could be instrumental in that role, and bringing K.T. home would also be valued incentive because he'd add toughness to their frontcourt. Just something to think about!

Why Portland would do it??.. Two reasons, reunite with Kelvin Cato suring up their Center position, and cap flexibility.. they'd rid themselves of Ruben Patterson albatross contract while getting respectable players in return. Cat would help Portland out in the backcourt.. when Derek Anderson gets injured... We all know he will!

so we can give them frank.
btw, if francis or cat became their 2 guard, 2 things would happen :
- they'd still dominate the ball (as they're both kind of human blackholes)
- they'd not get the outside shooting to free yao they sorely need.

i don't see the Rockets making that deal & here's why:

Yao Ming becomes a RFA after the '06 season...the Rockets already have Steve Francis locked up until the end of the '08/'09 season at mega dollars...& they also have Mo Taylor on the books until after the '06/'07 season at big dollars as well...they're not going to add Allan Houston & Kurt Thomas to that list & risk losing out on their ability to resign Yao Ming to a longterm extension.

it was a good idea, but i just don't see it happening.

francis is still tradable. he'd young and explosive, a nice plus for a lot of teams in this league.

that still doesn't matter...if you were to add Allan Houston & Kurt Thomas' longterm deals to Mo Taylor's already bloated deal, you severely hamper your ability to sign your franchise C to a max type deal.

only if the owners don't want to pay the luxury tax. Yet with that kind of team, you could go very far. Playoffs = money.

if they have Mo Taylor, what role does KT play? if you were unloading Spoon & Mo Taylor in this deal, then i can see them considering it, but taking on Allan's contract is a huge deal especially w/all his health issues & advancing age...i just don't see VG going for it.

i think the most realistic option would be to maybe try & get Kelvin Cato & a future pick for KT & Trybanski's ending filler deal.

dude, the obvious trade is straight up: allison and kurt for stevie and mo.

why? van gundy desperately wants to get rid of these two. allison being a spot up shooter (if he ever walks again) is the kind of guy you want with a big man who demands double teams. kurt gives them some defensive toughness and an enforcer to watch yao's back.

we play a clyde/pearl type backcourt with star and the franchise. both are the kind of ball handling shooting guards that zeke wants. a 3 guard rotation of frank nitti, starbury and stevie franchise is bad ass. we can live with mo's ridiculous contract since its so much less ridiculous than allison's.

as long as you realize then that this move pretty much cancels out any hope at all of the Knicks being able to sign a good bigman for the next 5 years at minimum w/both Marbury & Stevie's contracts eating up almost half the salary cap until 2009.

i don't see the Rockets trading Francis for Houston anyway.

Neither can I. For a team over the cap and paying the luxury tax, Houston will cost them $40 mil per season ($20 mil contract plus 100% penalty). Even if he's 100% healthy, he won't bring in half the money the team would be spending. And for a team under the cap, he'd be a very poor way to use cap space. You might be able to trade him packages of extreme garbage players with terrible contracts, but that wouldn't be worthwhile. You won't get anything half decent for him.
