But, sadly, race relations have really deteriorated especially in the last few years and I believe the blame is evenly distributed. I'm an old timer, and I have never seen this country so racially divided. Its really sad.
Just like a relationship with a family member--any problems between races should be met with high quality communications and thoughtful follow through. We're all in this country together and we can always strive for a better way of life for every last person. It's important that people with wealth spread their wings to ensure that many more people have higher wage jobs and better education. Wealth redistribution better communication and a country committed to a higher quality education for all citizens will lead down the pathway for a better way of life for more people and will help narrow the lines of racism and inequalities for the masses. It all starts from the people we vote into government. Make sure your voice is heard by voting and make sure the person you vote for has a viewpoint that is on the side of all people. I think the next President can start by making sure the police forces around the US are mandated to be racially balanced and new laws in which police engage any person are brought out and executed. Make sure that the person you vote for has a big viewpoint on the need for a higher quality education for every person and every town. Make sure they are committed to a higher minimum wage that taxes are redistributed in a careful way. Make sure that we are committed to new integration policies. Thats where it all starts. On a personal level each individual can do their best to always improve their own habits towards others. If you have a positive outlook on life and go an extra mile to be courteous respectful and caring towards others--it goes a far way.
To add, there has to be a lot more focus on the development of kids (especially in ghettos) ages 1-10. More and better programs to expand there minds. As well as assistance in parenting. "It takes a community to raise a child", so if the community is messed up it will only stunt a kids growth. As a kid could be in the drug game by the age of 9-10. Not as an actual drug dealer but a look out or something. The ability to make a little money and lack of understanding of actual repercussions are to tempting.
Just like rebuilding, there needs to be a structured plan in place to develop and expand kids minds, assistance in parenting, as well as networking within the community to get everyone to get to know and be familiar with each other.
Also just to throw this in here as well though kind of off topic. Anyone on welfare should be forced to work for the government in some capacity.
What is working at McDonalds or some fast food venue going to accomplish? Because the reality is that people on welfare are on welfare because they lack tangible skills, some of which is attributed to institutionalized racism and the rest to classism. Add to the fact that our taxpayer dollars subsidize the outsourcing of jobs go other countries and you get the circumstances we are in now.
If you really want to fix the problem, the focus should be on creating resource centers where these people can acquire the skills necessary to be a productive member of the workforce. And while doing so, raise corporate taxes on those whose sales are driven by the American consumer but whose workforce exists abroad.
