I view Ben Wallace as a superstar. I'm not sure you can list more than 5 or 6 players who have a bigger impact on the game than he does.

But they still wouldn't be there if Sheed didn't come to the team. I don't see B.Wallace on the level of past NBA champs like Shaq, Duncan, Hakeem, Jordan, Bird, Zeke.

I agree.....Even though Sheed hasn't done much scoring(not that he ever really did).....he is definately a force on defense. Where would Detroit be without his fire? They feed off of Sheed.

Yeah Ben isn't really a superstar but he has really been playing his arse off. Chancey and Rip might be too much for the Lakers.

The Lakers are doomed because once you see coaches playing guys they wouldn't normally play they are in trouble. Phil has emptied his bench in this series already.

I'm not sure if the LAkers can win. Malone and Payton are playing worse than Ron Harper and Horace Grant in the same role. Not good for the Lakers.

Kobe had 11pts? wow....Shaq had 14? wow.....not good.

To address the tittle of this thread......

I've said many times that people put too much stress on the terms superstar, all-star, mvp candidate,etc....

Look what happened in Orlando. That team is not as bad as they played. They have some good player and they have a "mvp candidate" in McGrady.

Detroit is supposedly superstar free yet they are handling the Lakers in the Finals.

If you can get the right mix of talented players no matter who they are and can get a good system underneath them......the sky is the limit. That's just pure basketball and it's a beautiful thing.

Detroit has just that...

The Knicks will be right there next year if Isiah has anything to say about it.

magic has a superstar and nothing else.

detroit has a hell of a depth, a tremendous coach and a bunch of star players. so that's not as if they had nothing.
