some excerpts:

"We're not married to our pick," Sund said. "With Nick coming back, we have the flexibility to move our pick. We've added so much youth to our team that you have to look at how viable would it be to add another young player.

"We've got a lot of options. We can trade the pick. Move the pick, whether that means going back or trying to move up higher. Draft for a specific area where we need help. Take the best player. Or take a big (player). A lot of that depends on the expansion draft." Each team can protect eight players off its 2003-04 roster, including restricted free agents, and must submit its list before tomorrow's deadline.

Bernie Bickerstaff, the Bobcats' general manager and coach, has said he's looking for young, athletic players with modest contracts in the expansion draft, so it would seem unlikely that Charlotte would select any Sonics.

The Los Angeles Clippers, who have the second overall pick and need a point guard, are reportedly shopping Chris Wilcox, and Memphis' Pau Gasol may be available for the right price.

alright guys try this one on for size

New York trades: PF Mike Sweetney (4.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.8 minutes)
PG Stephon Marbury (20.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 8.9 apg in 40.2 minutes)
New York receives: PF Chris Wilcox (8.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 0.8 apg in 20.6 minutes)
C Chris Kaman (6.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 22.5 minutes)
PF Elton Brand (20.0 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3.3 apg in 38.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +10.2 ppg, +13.6 rpg, and -4.1 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Chris Wilcox (8.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 0.8 apg in 20.6 minutes)
C Chris Kaman (6.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.0 apg in 22.5 minutes)
PF Elton Brand (20.0 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3.3 apg in 38.8 minutes)
L.A. Clippers receives: PF Mike Sweetney (4.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.3 apg in 42 games)
PG Stephon Marbury (20.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 8.9 apg in 81 games)
Change in team outlook: -10.2 ppg, -13.6 rpg, and +4.1 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

the clippers

pg-steph, dooling
sg-maggette, jaric
sf-richardson, simmons
pf-draft howard, sweetney
c-drobnjak, ely

the knicks

pg-williams, norris
sg-houston, penny
sf-thomas, dermarr
pf-brand, wilcox
c-kaman, nazr (maybe even c-damp, kaman......leaving nazr for trade bait)

this still leaves us kurt thomas, harrington, deke and trybanski as trade bait to upgrade our now weaker pg spot. plus the mle and the lle.

can frankie handle the starters spot?
can we use the rest of our players to upgrade pg and add depth to the sg?
do we give up to much?
do we give up not enough?
this also still leanes the clippers with their pick to trade for something else.

i think we would be set at the 3, 4 and 5 for a while.

go easy on this trade guys, i know its alot but i just woke up and havnt had my java yet.

i wouldn't do that trade...i wouldn't trade Marbury unless we were getting Kobe, KG, Duncan, Lebron or Yao.

Marbury is too marketable a player for NY to be worth giving up for Brand or Wilcox.

Why not just keep it simple and see if LAC bites on Frank, Cezary, and 2 2nd rounders for Wilcox?

That's more feasible than blowing up both teams.

I agree....

I talked about a Clippers trade before involving our ending contracts(bums )for Brand alone. That would only happen if the Clippers were to trash the season and rebuild. Technically they are building so that idea is stupid. The Clippers got a new coach over there so the probably wanna try to win.

If I were them I would definately try to trade Wilcox. Wilcox is a guy that i still on his rookie contract but has been in the league a while so he could attract another young player.

I'm a Wilcox fan so I wouldn't mind. Wilcox just has to get some moves to the basket. If he can get a seem he'll finish with the best of them but the Knicks need more than that.

Check out here what he did to the Knicks :http://rtsp://a389.r.akareal.net/ondemand/7/389/6101/v0001/video.nba.com/clippers/wilcox_lac_040227_hi.rm

They're trying to use Wilcox to get Pau Gasol and we're gonna offer them Frank Williams and Cezary and 2nd rounders???

The article stated Wilcox and Gasol were available, not that they were trying to obtain Gasol via Wilcox, at least thats how I read into it. It wasn't a Clippers article, it was a Sonics article, leading me to believe the author was listing possible players the Sonics would target, not a potential LA/Memphis trade.

that's not how i interpret this sentence:
The Los Angeles Clippers, who have the second overall pick and need a point guard, are reportedly shopping Chris Wilcox, and Memphis' Pau Gasol may be available for the right price.

Yea that sentence is basically saying that Wilcox could be used in a deal to land Gasol. That is very unrealistic though because West has stated a number of times that he will not trade Gasol unless its for a superstar like Kobe or Shaq.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

Oh, I don't actually pay any attention to what GMs say about the trade value they think their players have. I couldn't care less if West said he thinks he can get Shaq for Gasol.

Read the entire quote:

"Excluding Allen, Seattle's top trade assets include Lewis, Radmanovic and Murray. A combination of those players might be enough to convince Portland to deal Abdur-Rahim or Indiana to trade Al Harrington. The Los Angeles Clippers, who have the second overall pick and need a point guard, are reportedly shopping Chris Wilcox, and Memphis' Pau Gasol may be available for the right price. " They are referring to players the Sonics might target, ie, Wilcox is not being offered for Gasol.

I guess you could interpret the quote in different ways. It's written poorly.

me either man cuz around this time they are just trying to up the ante to try to get better deals.

Gasol can't rebound and he proved that against the Spurs. Gasol has a terrible pair of hands also.

GM's can say what they want.

Just as long as Isiah can get someone to help the Knicks.
