There appears to be more to the projected Allan Houston news story as first reported by Dave D'Alessandro of the Star-Ledger than previously thought. Knicks President Isiah Thomas is in Chicago, but the Pre-Draft Camp at the Moody Bible Institute isn't the only thing on his mind. We've recently learned that talks regarding restricted free agent Jamal Crawford are elevating, a player Thomas has previously coveted during the season. If the Knicks do let Houston's contract go to the expansion Bobcats (who would most likely later trade him to another team such as the Nuggets), the plan is to then follow up by getting Crawford to play alongside Stephon Marbury at the 2 spot.

i would love to get jamal crawford. a 3 guard rotation of steph, h20, and jamal is great. if h20 is hurt, then a 3 guard of steph, jamal, and penny works as well.

team needs dictate that we need an athletic big man but jamal is exactly the type of player we should be targetting. young, athletic, and developing.

i would do a sign and trade with frank AND kurt for jamal but i don't think chicago lets him go without moving erob or jyd in return. i would expand it to include othella and take jyd.

I was suspicious of this also, but real GM is not a low grade rumor mill, they usually have affiliates who have access to teams PR people. I am not saying that this rumor is by anymeans true, but to say not to listen to real GM is not fair....

this is one time Briggs is right. Stories of the bobcats taking Allan Houston and moving him to Denver or anywhere else are about as dumb as that Schwarzenegger movie where he gets pregnant. Really.. Houston *could* be dealt... I'm sure there is some silly deal out there but its just not happening.

Actually that was also mentioned in star ledger article that i posted a couple of days ago.

The Bobcats, obviously, cannot fit Houston under their $29 million cap, because he'll make $18 million next year. But they could ship him off to a team that could really use him -- such as Denver, which has the cap space to accommodate his salary and the flexibility to repay Charlotte with draft picks.

yes it was mention in NJO and we are all still wondeing what David is smoking. The RealGM article just sounds like a recap of what the article is about.

Regardless of what happens with Houston, I would love to get Jamal. He can be a backup combo guard if Houston stays here.

This note was in a Mark Berman fantasy article about Kobe is interested in the Knicks:

http://www.nypost.com/sports/25437.htm

...

In fact, the Knicks are expected to leave Houston unprotected in the upcoming expansion draft, according to a league source. Charlotte can't fit Houston's salary under its downsized cap and wouldn't be able to trade him.

I really don't see what most of you see in Houston. This dude is simply a jump shooter, he is not a baller. Right now, the KNicks need more than a freaking jump shooter. When we had Ewing, we had the need for a jump shooter, but Ewing is long gone.

I am just going by what I have read in the past and it had all be low grade rumor mill. Maybe they have gotten affiliates, but when is the last time a rumor has come out of that site that was interesting or semi-true or not based off of another source that had been already published?

maybe one if not the best shooter in the nba. A guy who before this yr was very durable, had a good attitude, and clamly and soflty could drop 50 on any given night. with marb and a few other players, he could be deadly for our floor spacing. teams are dying because of their lack of outside shooting (nets, spurs, anyone ? ). we got one of the best and we want to tarde him for a bag of chips. go figure.

Let's not get carried away here! He dropped 50 in two of the eight hundred and nineteen games he's played in his career.

And one of those games came while injured....let's not forget, this guy is a threat to drop 50 while injured....

geez louis.....

Houston doesn't make his teamates better. Houston spots up or clears out....that's it.

Let's not forget the Knicks have Marbury now. You guys like to say KT is awesome in the pick and role too. KT doesn't make his teamates better either. I'm singling them out because KT says he lead the team in this stat and second in this one....that's bullpoopy.

Knicks need a guy that not only can hit the jumpshot, but can score inside and make plays for someone other than himself. Is it me or is Houston a terrible rebounder for his size? Houston's assist totals are also kind of low for a guy that draws so much attention.

Jamal Crawford is a guy that can beat you alot of ways. Houston only does it with his jumpshot. Knicks just need a guy that is a triple threat at the 2 guard spot. Someone active to take pressure off of Marbury.

For example look at Cuttino and Francis. Talk about a backcourt that can cause problems.

It's all about the talent level.

Then maybe he should get injured more often because he's not a threat to drop 50 when he's healthy (except for once every 400 or so games).

I do like Houston and I think his presence was greatly missed in the playoffs. But I'm not going to over-rate him, either. I wouldn't rate him as high as the SGs who can score and also rebound, pass, and play defense. At best, he's a top 15 SG at this point in his career (which means he's a very important player on the Knicks but not a star).

Yeah, he doesn't make his teamates better... drawing the defense out, converting on Steph's kickouts.. all he can do is shoot. That's it.
Hilarious. Great Shooting is a commodity, not exactly rampant in the NBA right now. If Denver added Houston, they would be a tough team to beat, even in the West. Miller, Houston, Melo, Camby, and Nene. That's a great starting five.
