He held prime Tim Duncan to 16ppg in a playoff series back in the day. No, Amare was never a great defender but he hasn't been this bad throughout his career. He became an excruciatingly bad defender after all those surgeries ****ed up his lateral quickness and ability to get into a defensive stance.

In my opinion he has always been a terrible defender. He just had superior athletic ability to cover for his bad positional defense. It is needless to say he no longer has that crutch to lean on.

Fair. But even when he first signed, I don't remember him being this bad.
