Has to be able to hit the jumper and improve his decision making, though, or he will just be a 10-15 MPG energy boost player.

Think his ceiling is easily higher than Cleanthony Early's

because

his length, work ethic, NBA body, strength/athleticism/length/big hands, ability to penetrate/finish/post up, but of course has to continue to work on his shot

Think Phil Jackson will use either cap space or part of a exemption to sign and reward him for going to the D League and develop in the Triangle
We can avoid a possible poison pill and give him a 3 year deal versus a 2 year deal
Teaming him up with players that fit his skill set, match and multiply his DEF/ENERGY will be the key

Like many higher ceiling European players/2nd round stashes, he will be one of our pieces moving forward, unfortunately he currently probably has the highest trade value as the next asset

If we get a high pick, especially top 3, their salaries will also be higher and guaranteed in addition to CA and Calderon's contracts of 30m by themselves
Also we simply cannot afford to overpay for talent and with the summer and D League players, I can easily see some easy fits next year

As rotation, backup players that are developing the Triangle, we have a few players that will be like 2nd round picks and a 1st round pick in Greek Freak 2

Langston Galloway (backup PG/combo guard 3rd string) 500k
Orlando Sanchez (solid F with range and can put it on the floor to the hoop, reminds me of a bit of Frye/Sullinger) 500k
Travis Wear 1m

Greak Freak will get more than 500k, probably at least 1m

Easily see these 4 making next year's roster and will be cheap, leaving room to spend on other talents

8-12m contract
2-3m contract, maybe 2 players in this range
MLE (could be used on 2 players)
1st rounder

there are some other players like OJ Mayo's brother if we ship out all of our SG's or just keep one of them

I'm going to watch the game but I'm skeptical of D-league exploits. Wasn't Jeremy Tyler dominating there last year? What NBA team is he on this season?

Understood, but in spite of those caveats it was actually a very entertaining game. Our guys were actually running triangle plays better than the Knicks, springing guys free for lots of good looks or open paths to the rim. LA's farm team had some good players too. Though he is older and probably considered a washed-up player, Moon was an assassin shooter this game at least. It was closer to an NBA game in quality than I'd normally expect, so watch and judge for yourself.

I saw many of the same things in his game that I hated during the summer league. The guy is 22 years old and still has no discernible offensive skills. He catches the ball on offense and doesn't even attempt to make an offensive move, which is an issue because defenses will inevitably start to sag off of him and help more readily. In this NBA, where floor spacing is quintessential, having a guy like Thansis is a death's blow, which is why better and more polished players have been jettisoned from the league. And on defense, Thansis is still relying on his athleticism to keep his man at bay, which isn't impressive to me. Yeah he got 6 blocks but the 3 or so he got in the first half were on help defense, which is to be expected with his physical ability against inferior talent. I'll check out the 2nd half at a later time but I still doubt that the guy has a future in the NBA.
