Well Orlando is on the back to back coming in from Toronto. 3 of their guys played 40 minutes---the bottom line is if the KNicks lose--this will go to free fall.

I basically expected a 3-7 start anyway, so no surprise here.

Aside from getting Jose back, the only remaining question I have about the potential W-L ratio for this season hinges on this team's ability to take advantage of opponents that are exhausted or having an off night. If they show any aptitude for that, it can mean the difference between winning 25 games and 35 games which is ten games which is significant.

That ability to capitalize on teams that are off their game is more important than analyzing how hard or soft the schedule is IMO, because this team is not going to be good no matter what, so they can lose to the worst teams every night or get hot and beat a decent team.

Either way, I don't see how it is possible for them to make the playoffs, so playing with pride and developing returning players is all I'm interested in. Tanking is good. No loss is too painful if it brings us one of the top five picks.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell!

quick orlando scouting report since we just played them last night - they have alot of active bodies. vujecic has a very polished offensive repetoire. and they played some great ballhawking and help defense last night. they also were red hot from 3 - not sure if that will carry over vs you guys. for some reason tho, jacque vaughn played ridnour the entire 4th instead of putting payton back in. payton is fast and can get in the lane but his jumper isn't that good. but they have the potential to be a really top flight defensive squad.

It's a very big athletic team--they're very young. This team really has a LOT of pieces in places. One thing we will find out real quick whether tired or not is how long the team is. And they can get on a role with 3 pt shooting with Frye Fourmier Gordon and then have the inside game with Vucevic. When they get back Olapido--hes a big piece--I see them making a run at some point IF healthy. Its not a bad team.

Exactly, I was hoping that Vucevic would make it into RFA and challenge Orlando with a MAX OFFER, especially if they another team gave a big offer for Tobias Harris and they matched
Vucevic would have been able to play both PF and Center and with high IQ, versatile talent, and his skill set, he would have been a great fit for The Triangle, even if it was for the MAX
I like him much better than Marc Gasol and most of our possible targets because of his age and ability to continue to improve, as he is already one of the most under rated and better PF/C's in the league

He certainly would have been a great piece moving forward and had Dantoni not tried to win all the meaningless games he did, we would have been in position to draft the kid in which Briggs was highly interested in along with Andrew Bynum (in which we draft Frye instead)
We were one WIN/LOSS away from this possiblity...

He took 1 year to develop and we got Iman Shumpert instead

It will be depressing when Channing Frye, of all people, tears us a new one!

On a serious note- the next 6 games are all much more winnable than the first 8 games of the season. This is a chance to right the ship, or at least tread water until we get things together.

Much as I like him, the Magic rookie pg has been terrible offensively, and very quiet the last 2 games. I am willing to bet $500 that he explodes against us!

I will predict another loss for the Knicks tonight. I watched the Toronto's game last night, the Magic appears to play with much more cohesion than the Knicks thus far. They have guys that can catch and shoot which we don't have, and their bigs are superior than ours.
Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

we have guys that can shoot, there just not making there shots, and the magics losses have come against playoff teams. I'm pretty sure they are looking at us like a easy win.

Not that it matters, but the date today is November 12th. Looking forward to tonight's game. I think it will be a win for us. However, I am not counting W-L this season, as we have a first rounder next year and I would love for it to be top-5. Whatever happens, I am enjoying this transition to the Triangle (on those occasions Melo doesn't hold the ball for 5-10 seconds...the dingbat!)

Have to contain Fournier, he's very crafty

Vucevic may be a Top 3 center in the league, he's that good

Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol, Dwight Howard. How does Vucevic match up? LOL

I was looking at his stats and they are quite impressive thus far, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

There's no getting ahead, he's that good you could make a case

He's a Top 3 center right now, not sure what is absurd about the statement

vucevic sets a mans pick (which we can't do for some reason)

and then passes out of the double team as soon as the helper commits (which Melo will not do for some reason)

so here is what phil is thinking ....
