lets see how that plays out. Caldy comes back and hits shots at a high clip and everything changes and things settle down.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

This talk that Calderon is a bad contract is ridiculas. There are not many 3pt shooters in the league like him and on a contender 7.5 is nothing.

A team like OKC would be a perfect fit for Calderon. He could easily come off the bench and space the floor while playing with Westbrook and Durant. OKC could use a sniper. It just sucks that Jose is injured.

Honestly if I was OKC I would take Calderon, Dalembert, future 2nd for Perkins and Jackson. Jackson's market this offseason is very small. NY, Sac, Milwaukee, and that's about it. His lack of 3pt shooting and FTAs will probably hurt his value. I do think those things can impove but he has never been a lead guard or focal point so I doubt he will get major money. I see $6-8M for a solid defensive point guard with possible upside.

Hes a 20-6-5 guy with 40 minutes a night. I garee with you 6-8mm the same amount we are paying Calderon--the amount we added to the cap. Reggie is only 10 years younger.

I personally could live with Calderon and Jackson.

My dream FA/Trade scenario is this:

Trade for Tobias Harris and put him at the 4. He is undersized but he rebounds well and is a try hard defender. Think David West with potential to stretch the court. If his rebounding improves, which it has with orl, and he becomes a better defender I see a young Paul Millsap. He has to improve his 3pt shooting though to help his efficieny. A another NY kid coming home. According to Brussard he gets a bump(shoe contract) for being in either Ny, Chi, or LA. That is a two horse considering CHi is stacked. Any, the reason I make the move during the season though is to make sure NY has the opportunity to match any offer sheet while also being able to go over cap to sign him, ala what Houston was going to do with Parsons.

If that trade is made I then go after Wes Matthews and Robin Lopez. Portland probably only has money for just one. They likely go with Lopez leaving Ny with a chance to grab a real two way SG(sorry Guns).

If the above is true then Gasol is probably my #1 center choice with Asik coming slightly in behind for different reasons.

If I have Calderon, Matthews, Melo, and Harris I would want Asik to be the rim protector and rebounder

If I have Jackson, Matthews, Melo, and Harris I would want Gasol posting and facilitating while playing good team and man D. Gasol is not a great rebounder but everyone else rebounds at a pretty high level for their position except for Matthews.

A starting 5 roster like those has just enough of right now and future if the knicks are able get Jackson and Harris. I do not see either one of them costing that much on the market due to their lack of extreme efficiency. They are both efficient enough to be starters with potential.

dream or reality? We obviously are not getting harris:)

My realistic goal

Somehow--someway we find an additional first rounder and a young player through purge at the deadline.

We have a high lotto pick and we use our 2015 cap space on one or two really good YOUNGER free agents.

In the NBA that pretty much it--really we'd be caped out if we renounce everyone and get a max + 5mm $ player and two # 1 picks. The Calderon 7mm is material-it's going to come back and bite us.

The Thunder will trade him for assets in order to maintain the pipeline. He isn't going to see FA.

They were interested in Shump at the draft. We could probably work a Shump and Hardaway for Jackson and future pick.
