2015 Denver # 1 pick restricted to 7 and Erick Greene. We'd be taking off Mcgee's contract for next year and adding 12mm but we'd likely have two mid range 1's and a PG who I think can play this style and hes 6-4. On top of which if we just ask Mcgee to play in the deep post--he's probably better than anything we have.

I do think Greene will be a pretty good player in this league, but I want no parts of Javale. Too much of a blockhead. if they took JR in this i might consider.

Well I would essentially be doing it for what will likely be a 10-15 pick + Greene. Mcgee if he can be used right --should still be better than any of our C's. Its only a two year commitment.

Agree about McGee. Bargs is up at the end of the year. Not sure that taking on Javale and his deal to get other assets is worth it.

I guess I just dont want Javale, and at some point this team needs real upgrades that can be compared to the rest of the league and not who we just had. Javale sucks and is dumb as a cinder block, and I'd actually question whether he is actually better then Dalembert whom I wont have to see next season at all. Bargs and Larkin wouldnt get a near lottery pick and a good pg in return anyway. the deal makes no sense for Denver.

I like the deal for us. Adds about $12.85mm in salary for next year but who are we honestly getting this summer in FA that'll make a huge difference? Rondo? Marc Gasol? Greg Monroe? Do any of these guys put us over the top? I like LaMarcus Aldridge, he's made some nice strides the past couple of years esp. rebounding the ball and he had the nice playoff run, but does Portland just let him walk away? I don't see it. Does he even put us over the top with Melo?? The rest of these FAs just look like glorified role players that'll require big bucks to sign...Why not look for a deal like this, get back a couple of assets and postpone/revisit FA in 2016 (no guarantees here either but at least the top draw will be Kevin Durant not Marc Gasol --- just read a convincing argument though that speculates Durant signs with Washington in 2016--I kind of agree)? McGee is kind of a blockhead but he's young and still has upside -- with 30 mins a night I think Javale's right around 10/10 & 2 maybe more and I like Erick Green. He's got a little size to him at 6'3"+, he can really score the ball and I think he's got enough overall skill to run some point maybe even full-time eventually. Plus I'd love that extra pick... I'd do this then target those 2 bigs in the draft you mentioned the other day -- Harrell and Kaminsky. I also really like Delon Wright if we needed another guard. To me that kid's a much better version of Jamal Crawford -- projects to be just as good a scorer only with a much better shooting % and a better defender. FG %, rebounding, assist totals, blocks and steals are all very impressive for a 2G. Interested to see what he does for a encore leading up to the draft after a really nice season last year @ Utah. As of right now, I like this type of plan. Even if we struck out in FA in 2015 & 2016, we still would've succeeded in restocking the shelves and improving the future moving forward with moves like this one. I know Melo will want headline talent to go to war with, but this might be the way to go to improve around him. Have trouble seeing us just sitting back and waiting for the big FAs to come. Multiple trades over the next couple of years will have to be made in order to get this team to the next level.

Exactly. I'm concerned that we will be in the middle and our big moves will be "hoping" that a free agent comes to us. I like to look at cap space as a way to get us better not necessarily a max contract that particular year. In essence Phil did try to be pro active in the Chandler trade by grabbing 3 young assets but the farther away you are in the draft pecking order--the harder it is to make correct decisions. That Mcgee contract for Denver could be one heckuva hindrance and certainly it would be expensive to move him(as in draft pick and young asset)
