OK, there more than likely will be a work stoppage in '16. Just a quick question: Does the D-League operate during the stoppage?

Good question, I guess it comes down to who gives in first
Players will always want more and management will always want leverage

It comes down to balance

Also, small market teams need to stay in the league in order to have a league
If teams can just buy players without bird rights, many small market teams will shrink

In order for small market teams to get talent, they must draft them and keep them, however, when their 1st rookie contract ends, they lose leverage thus Lebron/CA/Kevin Love
With Lebron looking to always team up with ALL STAR's, many other players and teams will follow that same motto with 3 ALL STAR's + in order to compete for a ring

Final question, what is your real UK name

The dleague played during the last lockout. The downfall is that the max salary in the d league is $25,000. In 2011 there was speculation the season would be lost. If that is the case in 2016 a lot of guys with out hope of being moved up to the nba might play elsewhere. Also, the talent pool probably isn't as good. NBA teams wouldn't be able to send guys on assignment or send/protect guys from the dleague draft that they had in their training camp.

Interesting answers.

I see the point about D-League guys linked to the main franchise would not be able to play as they are really under the NBA umbrella. So if the walk out were to occur this season, guys like Wear and the Greek Freak's brother who are being sent to the White Plains team directly from the Knicks would not be eligible to play. That would make sense. But that means the rest of the league would still function and continue despite the NBA work stoppage. I hope.

Thanasis would be able to play. He already has signed. Knicks couldn't bring him to camp and keep his rights if he didn't make the team. If there was a lockout there wouldn't be a training camp so Wear could play in the d league but he could choose his destination. Also, he might just choose to go overseas and make a bit more. Twenty five thousand is the max in the dleague. I don't know if first year guys can get that. There is a salary structure there. I believe guys get one of three contracts where 25 grand is the biggest and I believe 20 grand is the smallest. I believe I read that dleague players are given housing during the season and they receive $40.00 a day in meal money. Still, without the possibility of playing in the nba it seems like taking the money overseas would be the smart thing for at least a year.

SO the owners are just handed a revenue stream 3x more than the prior deal and their first move will be to force a lockout?

Doesnt add up

It won't be the owners. Players. Massive increase in max contracts will be demanded by players when that 24 billion dollar windfall deal comes into play in 2016. It will be the big boys - LeBum, Melo, Durant - who will be the leaders in a future strike.

Melo's signed for 5 years. How exactly does he help lead a strike in 2016, other than the fact he's as dumb as you think he is?
Try listing all the big boys like LeQ who were bright enough to sign short term contracts.

The CBA runs through the 2020-21 season, although either side may opt out after the 2016-17 season. To do so, notice must be given by December 15, 2016.

Uhh, you think that's the last contract he's going to negotiate in the NBA?

Uhhh, so you still think someone who's near-maxed out under the old cap is going to be leading a strike in 2016?
