I'd be a little skeptical because Butler is so versatile and the Bulls really have improved on their shooting woes (with the additions of McDermott and Mirotic), which would negate some of Hardaway's value. But their 2 guard spot is still weak with Snell and Hinrich and you can never have too much shooting.

I know trading for Butler wouldn't make sense from our perspective with Melo here...I was just wondering about the possibility for subsequent trades e.g. with the Nuggets. The Nuggets, in particular, would have little use for THJr with Gary Harris looking to blossom but could use Jimmy Butler to condense their roster, especially at the forward position. I'm thinking that if we send them Iman, J.Butler, Dalembert, Jason Smith, Jeff Green (from an Amare trade) a tall, backup PG that can share time with Lawson on the court and some picks, I think we'd have the framework for a deal to bring back Aaron Afflalo, Gallo, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, Nate Robinson, JaVale McGee and Darrell Arthur.

...basically what I'm saying is that our lineup sucks and I want our old supporting cast back at the expense of JaVale McGee, lol. I don't see the Nuggets paying all those guys when their contracts are up, or being interested in keeping so many guys that they won't be able to give adequate time to on the payroll. In effect, they'd still keep their core (Lawson, Harris, Faried, Hickson, Nurkic), so I think it'd have some traction if we can get some picks involved. On the flip side, our lineup would be incredibly lengthy, incredibly versatile and incredibly good at spacing the floor: the 3 ingredients of a good team running the triangle. They'd be nothing but a bunch of role players at best (save for Afflalo) but their chemistry could make the whole greater than its parts like the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

I Say enjoy the preseason. Jimmy butler is not doing anything for us. All the other guys you mentioned, we have similar talent in the current roster. We may need to move done guys but right now I would just say enjoy the pie season

Butler is up for an extension and even though he had a down year offensively he is going to ask for a boatload of money (see Bledsoe's deal as the comp)...THjr warts and all is years away from a big payday and we need cheap rookie contract guys.

Either way the fact that he's a FA reduces his trade value big time.

For reasons unknown to me, I'm just not a fan of Tim Jr- not sure about Jimmy Butler though, he's a very good fit for the Bulls, but I wonder if he'd suffer being taken away from that culture. I'm intrigued to see how Snell does this year- good defender who shot well in summer league. We were interested in drafting him, but ended up with Tim Jr.

LOL @ the thought that the Bulls would give us Butler for THjr. That's preposterous.

But if they would, then of course JUMP at that ish.

Yeah, maybe we could get them to include Noah in the deal.

I'm hoping we can flip THJ for 2 second round picks or in a realistic trade--something like to Dallas for Dwight Powell and a 2nd rounder for example. I'd love to get a low 1st rounder for him but I can't picture it...Timmy's OK and finished strong the last couple of games--hopefully that increased his value somewhat because it had really taken a nosedive this year... Cleanthony Early, same deal -- if we could get something for THJ and/or Early, I find that appealing -- we immediately replace either guy with a superior DL-level player (Eric Griffin for Early; Scotty Hopson/Orlando Johnson/Kevin Murphy/Dominique Jones for THJ) while gaining a draft asset(s). We also have cash to include -- up to about $3.5mm...That's what I'd be looking to do. About the best we can hope for imo.

SO now we take this idea, get mad at phil for not doing it because it was written about as if it were on the table for him.
Or Donnie.
Or Grunnie.
Or Isiah.
Or Grunfeld.
or Layden.
Or Tapscott

Yes the Bulls will happily give up Butler for THjr. They might even throw in Mirotic too.

Sonny Werblin is sleeping on oportunity!!!

Eddie Donovan Took Earnie DiGragorio 3rd!! Lead the league in assists then the knee got him.
Eddie was the GM of the Buffalo Braves. Eddie was exec of the year with Buffalo in the second year of its existance.
Eddie was the GM that built the knicks! Eddie was not a great knick coach and was reassigned to GM. Great move.

Eddie was the architect of of the great knick team.

Bulls future looking bleak imo

Pau Gasol getting up there in age
Noah isn't the same
D.Rose hasn't played a full season in a long time and his degenerative knees is still skittish

Butler is going to think about all of that so it's a good chance that he does a 1yr extension like Greg Monroe did and become unrestricted next summer. It makes sense to do that because the cap will increase. Plus next summer would be more 1st tier players/ all stars in the free agent market. He's gonna make a mistake if he signs a long term deal with the Bulls

Could We Flip THJr for Jimmy Butler?
