Look like training camp deals

Langston is a guard and Wear a power forward

Langston was on the summer league roster and had some good moments. He has a tremendous wingspan for his size if I remember correctly. Wear was a McDonald's all American coming out of high school. The Knicks can send three guys to Westchester from their training camp squad and protect them from the d league draft. They don't hold their rights but they can work with them in hopes of eventually signing them. I like this move a lot. Wear can hit the mid range jumper consistently and might find a role in the triangle with his height and good shot.

I liked what I saw from Wear in very short spots

Hope he surprises

As far as Langston I want our guards to feel uneasy

While he fights to make the team

I REALLY LIKE THE WEAR SIGNING! He didn't play much in the summer league but his skillset was intriguing. I think he beats the odds and makes the team. I see him inevitably being a rotation player in this league.

Didn't Galloway have that game in the summer league where he went on a scoring rampage?

Wear put the ball on the floor on the fast break pretty nicely in the summer league. He has some ability and I think he was a high school all american. I think Galloway is closer to a Roberson 2.0. Streaky shooter, but ultimately a very small SG with no PG skills. Still he's the kind of player who if he gets hot in camp can push some people.

Nice write up on these guys:
So who is Langston Galloway?

The Baton Rouge, LA native played four years at Saint Joe’s in Philly where he showed that he can really fill it up. Last year at St. Joe’s, Galloway averaged 17.7 points and 1.1 steals per game. Wasn’t really big on passing as he had only 53 assists in 34 games. This leaves Galloway as more of a small shooting guard instead of a point guard. He hit 10 three’s in a game last February which is pretty awesome. He had his moments in the summer league, but only averaged 5.8 points in 16 minutes a game. Maybe with a little more playing time he can show why he holds the school record for made three pointers (343).

How about Travis Wear; who is that guy?

Well Wear was a UCLA Bruin for the past three years after transferring from UNC his freshman year. The big man is known for his athleticism and ability to run the floor. Coming out of high school, he was a McDonald’s All American, but failed to ever live up to the hype in college. In his career at UCLA, Wear averaged 9.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and a block per game. While Wear has a lot of upside still, he really needs to improve his ability to rebound the basketball and modify his offensive skill set to play at the NBA level.

Was rooting for Galloway in SL. Had the one great game, but looks like he needs some seasoning, especially as a ball handler. He already has an NBA jumper, but needs some overall confidence. There were times in SL when he really seemed hesitant on the offensive end.

I really think that someone on the Knicks likes what he might become as a player- and I'm betting that its Fisher- who might see a 6'2" player who can shoot and might be able to be a PG in the triangle at some point, but once again, he either needs to be a better ball handler or get a better understanding of what the offensive system is about. I expect that coaches saw him, as well as Wear, do some things in practice that made them think it was worth it to sign both of them to a training camp contract- which gives them some control over them in terms of the DLeague.

Hope he shows something and plays with our DL team. He is the kind of player who the DLeague was made for, especially if the DL team has the same style of play as the parent team.

I really wish the NBA could have more of a "farm system," where a team can have the rights to multiple players (say 5, for instance) for at least 3 years. Bump the max salary to 70G. First year player gets 30G, if the team wants to keep him he gets 50G the second year, and tops out at 70G. If he is not brought up to the parent team after 3 years, he goes into a draft pool in which other teams can take him.

A system, like in MLB, where a team can move players between the parent-team and its "minor league" affiliate a number of times might also be instituted. The DL players a team has might also be used like the NFL "taxi-squad" system, I suppose.

The money involved is relatively minimal, and I think it could help a team develop young players and also give fans something else to root for.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

I agree about developing more of a farm system. The Knicks can protect Galloway from the dl draft but he can still be signed by another nba team if they want to bring him up. It would be nice if they could assign 3-5 guys to their dl team and pay more than 25,000 a year without them taking up an nba roster spot.
