Tracy McGrady is considering a comeback to the NBA.

McGrady worked out with Kobe Bryant this summer in California to test the preparedness of his body.

"Yes, I was working out with K.B. to get in shape and see how my body feels," McGrady told Yahoo Sports in an email Tuesday night.

Bryant and McGrady worked out three days a week for a stretch of August.

At least two NBA teams were contacted over the summer about their potential interest in McGrady, but none registered a desire to further explore the possibility, league executives told Yahoo Sports.

McGrady is scheduled to appear in a basketball tour of China in October.

"The comeback will not happen, unless I have the drive whenever I get back," McGrady told Yahoo in the email.

In the their primes, I once believed

Tmac >> Kobe

Now, Kobe has worked much harder to stay in shape and has great work ethic
It is interesting to see them both working togehter to get back in the track of once NBA ELITES

I think Tmac's preffered position at his age is a backup PF, with similar to Odom, he has the talent, ability to handle the ball and stretch the floor
He is 6-9 6-10, and is about 35, so it not impossible to come back to play a role in the NBA though not as starting player
Though he doesn't have the speed/quickness/athleticism and strength he once did, if he worked hard enough and gained back some speed, I could see him play vs opponents bench, in another type of role

At vet min deals, it would be interesting to acquire both Kobe/Tmac in 2017, to play vs our opponents 2nd units at their age/limits

A comeback? This guy was three years too late to retire, can't even walk and chew gum at the same time

Get this bum outta here!

I remember there was a fair bit of excitement in his Knicks debut and then things quickly went down the toilet!

Tracy's a smart enough basketball player to contribute meaningful minutes to a team. The question is whether his body will hold up. When he was 28/29, he should've dropped as much weight as possible ala LeBron and Melo. Toward the end of his career, he looked really bulky, which certainly didn't bode well for his joints.

In any case, I hope to see him again. He was my favorite player during the 2000s and was pissed to see him go out the way he did.

TMac couldn't play anymore 4-5 years ago when he was here. There's no play here.

Tmac mustve messed with his body. He had the body type to play 17-18 years maybe 14-15 at a high level and realistically the guy was done at 28 years old.

He got too big. The reason Kobe is still playing now at his age is because he took care of his body...even that and Father time is catching up on Kobe.

His body broke down like most uber athletic guys. The human body was not meant to take the stress these guys do over the course of a year. Seemingly average moves they make are enough to shatter bone (see Paul George). Now extrapolate that force over the course of 10 NBA seasons and you why the elite athletes seldom stick around in the league.
