unbelievable. unbelievably sad.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

A very unique and intellectual entertainer.

When I saw his role on Law & Order SVU as the crazy skitzo

EPIC performance!

Seeing this news causes me not to feel surprised.

Because he was that talented and believable to think he could be this way in real life

He will be missed, so many memorable moments he leaves.

Depression and emotional instability is real

Unbelievable. I first heard this several hours ago and I'm still stunned. Please, please, please, please if you or someone you know is suffering from depression there is no shame, none, in seeking help. There are countless people who love and care for you who would be devastated at your loss!
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

word man....the worst feeling in the world is being depressed and nobody cares....people tend to ignore people that say they are depressed or make it worse by joking or saying get over it or look at what you have going for you....depression is simply not just a matter of being sad or unappreciated....smh....terrible to be trapped in that world

I know it has happened before, where a person considered to be a certain kind of actor shows they can do much more, but he really broke the mold.

Never a giant M&M show- he was always entertaining, but when you look what he could do dramatically in the right situation- Good Will...Dead Poets- you were amazed at his range.

Very sad...only a few years older than me, so it hits home. What is worse is that the guy had a lot more to give as an actor.

Definitely in the category of "beloved actor," a designation not many attain.

Having lost a family member to depression I hear you. My father is a psychiatrist and treats people with depression he has told me that the last person to know is the person with the problem so it is imperative for friends and family to know the signs of depression. Ironically Robin Williams played a Psychiatrist in Awakening, at the same place my Dad was practicing at the time.

I lost an uncle to depression so I hear you.

so very very sad. Grew up with Happy Days and Mork and Mindy re-runs out the wazoo. Depression is a brutal sickness. The drugs etc are a symptom not a cause. My heart goes out to his family who have lost one of this world's kindest and brightest souls. The hole in their hearts and in their lives cant be replaced. I hope your sadness has finally ended Robin. Rest in peace mate.

Brilliant stand up comedian!!! His manic delivery told the audience this was a man not wired right. The best ones aren't!

Great early example......

Besides his comedy roles he was simply amazing in Awakenings and Good Will Hunting.
I wish he had done a few more serious roles like these as he was excellent.

I think my favorite all time movie of his was Good Morning Vietnam, but Jumanji is a close 2nd.

This is terrible. I wish there was another resolution. Always loved Robin Williams. This one really sucks.

I hope he RIP Eventhough some peoples beliefs is that he won't because what he did is a sin. After all how do you rest in peace in hell if those are your beliefs right?

He was already in hell on earth. We only hope God has compassion

Man, his bit on golf is one of my favorite pieces of standup ever. Truly saddened by this news. I saw an interview of him on the Daily Show last year when he was promoting his new show. He was talking about his sobriety and his past demons. I thought he was doing well, obviously not.

R.I.P. Genie, your lifetime of work made the world just a little bit better for the rest of us.

I usually find it's the opposite- people are pretty good at hiding their pain and not letting anyone in, which is why a lot of people are shocked when someone close to them kills themselves. You can always look back and reinterpret stuff and wonder if you should have spotted 'the signs', but really if someone doesn't want you to know the level of pain they are in they will be pretty good at hiding the extent of it right up until the end. Even if you do figure out they're hurting, you're still pretty powerless if they can't or won't engage with you. I think it's tough on the friends and family when the onus is put on them to spot the signs, because they will be feeling guilt anyways (as well as anger and hurt), and that will kind of play on that.

RIP Robin Williams
