Hard to believe there's no interest out there in Wayne Ellington. Still fairly young, dead-eye shooter (pretty good offensive player overall) and he's on a very reasonable contract. And Pablo as a sweetener?? I can understand Larkin (who I don't want to give up unless it's for something substantial) but what team would require Pablo to take Ellington? If anything, I would think it would be the other way around, no? Strange. Up to me, I'd trade (or even buy out) Prigioni and replace him with a 2nd younger understudy ball-handler to go along with Larkin (if nothing else, I like Seth Curry or Kalin Lucas here). Also wouldn't mind holding onto Ellington for the time being unless there was a deal out there that made sense...Ellington's an asset and a NBA rotation player in my book -- a starting 2G in this league. I wouldn't give him away for nothing.
Regarding the Bass idea: I think we could do that deal if we wanted to. About a $3mm difference but isn't that the $ amount trades can be off and still get done -- $3mm? Plus, we could kick in some cash to offset. I doubt we used our entire cash allotment to purchase that Labeyrie pick from the Pacers. There's gotta be some money left over to include in a trade...Having said that, I'd pass on Brandon Bass -- I can understand the attraction (he'd fit---I'd like to see them add another big for depth myself), but for a role player like Bass, I'd just assume we take a chance on Richard Howell who's very similar, about 5 years younger, has a brighter future and more upside (what if he turned out to be better than Brandon Bass?) and he'd come for the league minimum (wouldn't have to trade anyone to get him--just create a roster spot). Or Daniel Orton -- same deal, only this guy's even bigger---we could add quality depth at PF & C with Orton. My criteria for adding an additional big at this point: needs to be better than either Howell/Orton. Not sure Bass is better than either of those guys. Me personally, I'd cut Jeremy Tyler, sign Howell or Orton to replace him and keep Ellington.
