Can the Knicks trade him? He's an expiring contract and I think they waived him. Does anybody know if he can be used in a trade or if he's totally of the team now.

I think, but I may be wrong, that if the player is waived, we still have to pay his remaining salary, but it doesn't count for the cap, and the player is no longer the team property.

In hindsight, I'm not sure if Isiah should have waived him. All Amaechi has done in his NBA career is work hard. Obviously, playing inspired bball would have earned him a spot on the bench under Lenny, but in case he did play, he probably could have added some energy off the bench. At the very least, he is better than Othella.

Actually I think that his salary does still count against the cap an you still pay him the money. The only thing you get is a roster spot.

I should add.....unless another team claims the player off of waivers....then you don't pay or have any cap charge.

Not that I'm a big Othella Harrington fan, but he's about 10% the player Othella is, which is why no team had any interest in him after he was waived. Hoopshype is right when they say that Amaechi should have a respectable career--somewhere in Europe.
