General question/poll for the knicks fans out there. When looking to add a player, what attributes or skill sets do you look at first?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Nice looking wife...minimal tattoos... does not give a shout out to a Supreme Being in interviews after a good performance.

I would also consider an unselfish attitude on offense, a decent jump shot, ability to move without the ball, and an awareness and toughness on defense. On D, especially, I want a guy who takes it personally when he is scored upon

For reference, as a kid, my favorite player was Dave Debusschere.

Answer: His ability to fill a niche, as a specialist. Staying power on a league/team comes down to players being able to do something well and consistently.

You are hilarious WaltLongmire... this comment really made me crack me. Just for the record I totally agree..

The most important attributes for me are hustle and if it is a veteran, someone who works on his game in the offseason.
I look for a player that has off the ball movement on offense, as that is where a lot of player's lazy tendencies tend to kick in. An offense where everyone is moving is hard to defend but you cannot have stragglers gumming up the works and creating problems with spacing when they don't move....

Players who are serviceable on both ends of the court to fill out the roster.

Efficiency in the top players.

All must be willing to be coached, and put the team above themselves.

Marko Jaric?

Interesting choice. Always thought he could score more than he did, but he had one year where he averaged 10 PPG, 6 APG, and close to 2 SPG. If he was a FA in his "prime" I think Jackson would have looked at him as a glue type player.

And yeah, his wife was not unattractive.

There are a lot of ways to be a good basketball player, so when you evaluate one, you look at all of them. There are no shortcuts.

Focuses their energy on throwing up shots, rather than waste it defending or passing. Pace themselves so they take it easy in games that are against bad teams or if they are bored or tired, so that they have more energy to lose closely to the good teams. The ability to call out everyone other than themselves when things go wrong.

In short, For perimeter players guys who get to the rim and are good passers. For bigs, efficient players who are very good help defenders.

Individual skills obviously change based on position and team need but in general: willingness to pass the ball, understanding of the difference between a good shot and a bad shot, trying hard on defense (this doesn't mean they're a shutdown defender), general basketball IQ (i.e. knowing to go for a 2-for-1 when there's 40+ seconds left in a quarter).

Off the court, I would like to have the guy who keep his social media stuff to the minimum and please do not show me any new shirts he bought day by day.

On the court, I want a veteran player who can be leader, know his role, good temper, high bbiq and strive for wining by all time. In addition, know melo. Example: A Afflalo.

Self motivated, soldier type that can play in any system. Must have leadership qualities, ability to uplift teamates and have a fully developed game. A professional on and off the court.

1) Has no agent.
1a) Makes all teammates, coaching staff, management, including security, dancers and vendors, better.
2) Will never sign for more than $12-14 mil per year unless name rhymes with Saul Gorge.
3) Has never, ever been bumped out of the playoffs before the conference finals.
4) Consistently shoots over 60% from the field and 50% from three.
5) Always scores twice as many points as shots taken or even thought about.
6) Never finishes more than one or two slots behind CP3 in assists per game.
7) Never injured.
8) States every year that the thought of free agency is akin to cancer.
9) Better game face than BK. No smiling.
10) Only shows emotion when hugging the trophy.
