To a major whiff on Charlotte

They IMO are by far the most disappointing team in the East

Al Jefferson is overrated (offensively) and he is a horrible defender buy yay for his throw back archaic post game.

I'd take Al Jefferson right about now (I mean for a bag of donuts or something)

would you give up our first rounder (if the CBA allowed)? No freakin way.

I don't want him occupying our cap space.

I am not saying that he is not a good player but certainly overrated.

I think he's properly rated

He doesn't make Max money, never has and is essentially 20/10 player

He might get close to max this summer only because of circumstance

No one goes on and on about Al Jefferson, great low post player though

way too many holes in his game and is certainly NOT a two way player.

I don't think we go near him. I hope that is the case.

As do others

Neither is Aldridge-K-Love-Jordan-Monroe-Chandler-Asik etc etc

But they're all getting paid this summer by someone

The only one that truly deserves it is Aldridge

He's proven he makes a difference in winning

And he's the foundational offensive piece

On a winning team in a much tougher conference

Love only has a case based on numbers and market value

He's not a bad player at all, he just doesn't deserve max money

Regardless he's getting paid

I think you're overrating Aldridge which is surprising. I agree he is a max player in the league when you look at who else gets paid, so that really doesn't mean much. But he toiled on some horrible teams until Lillard came along. I think Aldridge as your only star player is a lottery ticket, especially in the west. He isn't a difference maker and doesn't make others better. Not much difference between him and Anthony, actually. A couple more rebounds a game, but unlike Anthony he can't hit 3's, at all. He also jacks lotsa midrange two's. I guess I just dont understand how you can loath Anthony's game and praise Aldridge's. He is a classic volume shooter. On D he may be better than Anthony but Ive never heard his name bandied about as a great defender either. Ive never been a big fan of Lamarcus or Anthony for the same reasons. Curious why you view him as max worthy.

I think you're overrating Aldridge a bit, though I agree he is a max player in the league when you look at who else gets paid. But he toiled on some horrible teams until Lillard came along. I think Aldridge as your only star player is a lottery ticket, especially in the west. He isn't a difference maker and doesn't make others better. Not much difference between him and Anthony, actually. A couple more rebounds a game, but just like Anthony he doesnt get many assists and jacks lotsa mid range 2's.

Anthony is much more efficient. LA is the better rebounder and probably the better defender (which partially makes up for his horrible shot selection).

LA has a really good Assist -> TO ratio.

And you are absolutely correct. Nice to have Lillard, Batum, Mathews, Lopez etc ... on your team and LILLARD IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THAT TEAM.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

Personally I wouldn't give L.A. for maybe a couple reasons you mentioned

But as we delve deep all players have flaws

I was saying from those crop of players he'd be the player deserving Max IMO

For a poster who has called out Melo for years for his playoff failures, did you even bother to double check LA's (9th year in the league) playoff record and performances (horrendous efficiency (TS or FG your choice)) before saying that "He's proven he makes a difference in winning"?

I gave my reason based on those grouping of bigs

Not that I'd pay him that personally, which I clarified with H1AND1

I don't think we go near him. I hope that is the case.

As do others

Neither is Aldridge-K-Love-Jordan-Monroe-Chandler-Asik etc etc

But they're all getting paid this summer by someone

Only Love and Aldridge get/deserve max money.

I know that you don't like Love but I am ready to pay him. The only thing that I worry about is his health but at least we can insure him ... yay

For a poster who has called out Melo for years for his playoff failures, did you even bother to double check LA's (9th year in the league) playoff record and performances (horrendous efficiency (TS or FG your choice)) before saying that "He's proven he makes a difference in winning"?

I gave my reason based on those grouping of bigs

Not that I'd pay him that personally, which I clarified with H1AND1

you are back pedaling (which is fine). you seem to be doing this a lot though.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

There is no backpedaling and I don't backpedal

I clearly said they are all getting paid

But felt the group of bigs left no choice to go with L.A.

If we're talking Max, I could care less

Don't want Aldridge, we have no shot at Aldridge

I said in the other thread I'm not interested in paying Gasol $20mil/yr

And yet he deserves it over everyone, he just wasn't listed in the current exchange

I'm pretty consistent

Love did nothing but lose in Sota

Jordan lost with Clippers until CP3 showed up

Asik really is non factor

Jefferson has lost majority of his career

Tyson lost a helluva lot of games before arriving in Dallas

Monroe straight up loser

Those were the guys we mentioned for Max or deserving of huge paydays

A few of them aren't getting max regardless but they will be financially compensated nonetheless

Instead of maxing out one of these bums. I rather draft big and get Reggie Jackson to play SG and break down defenses with his ability to score from anywhere and get to the line

Calderon
Reggie
Melo
Ok4/Towns/Dakari/Stein
Servicable PF/C

in the mix
shump, THJ, Wear, Early, Larkin

Losing is irrelevant (for the most part). Its how you perform on a losing team. You gotta do your part.

So ... do you think that perhaps LA should be incorporating the 3 ball into his game?

so here is what phil is thinking ....
