Brown, 6-4, 205-pounds, appeared in 19 games for the Knicks this past season, averaging 2.1 points and 7.8 minutes. On Feb. 27, the Maywood, IL native signed the first of two 10-day contracts and then signed for the remainder of the season on Mar. 20.

We knew this was coming. Who is next? Dalembert? Ellington? Aldrich? Tyler?

Phil and Fish have spoken highly of Dalembert. They just signed Cole. Ellington could be shifted for a second rounder. I'd say Tyler is the most likely.

What about the veteran triangle presence we need going forward?

I'd say Ellington should be next. He's strictly a two and we need flexibity from our guys.

Brown was probably just kept around to help Fisher with the younger guys in the SL and get some time on the court to show other teams he had something left.

Have to say, though, that for a guy trying to help demonstrate the Triangle, he did a little too much dribbling at times.

Might get a call from another team for a training camp tryout, but if he doesn't and still wants to play I'm sure he can play overseas.

Man, I dunno about that. This dude can shoot the rock! Good offensive player and he's on a very reasonable contract. You figure he has value in this system too...Let him compete for a spot, no need to cut anyone now -- you can have a few more players for training camp/pre-season anyway, no? If anything, he's a perfect sweetener for a potential trade. I couldn't condone just waiving him at this point.

I think they probably should stash Thanasis for a year like we've been hearing, if they're even allowed to do that. That would free up another spot. And some kind of 2 for 1, 3 for 1 trade would be perfect (ex. JR/Pablo/Ellington for Ilyasova, something like that)..

I agree with Briggs' 'let it be' post in the sense that we shouldn't look to make any 'homerun' moves right now that would destroy future cap space and probably wouldn't put us over the top as far as challenging for something meaningful. I just don't feel this team is there yet, so here I'm willing to be patient unless something big fell into our laps that really made sense...I am in favor, however, of making a couple of calculated smaller/cost-effective moves to get better and alleviate some of the roster congestion.

I am a bit surprised. I thought he went to summer league to help the young guys and show his commitment. Shannon is a freak athelete and has a really long wingspan. Seemed like he might have some value.

You're right. We're close to 15 players now. There's no need to cut anyone unless something better comes along. That said, Ellington is the guy whose skills are the easiest to replace with our existing players. We have shooters and we have guys to defend the two. If a decent rebounding PF comes along, I say ship Ellington.

Yup...

Worth keeping Ellington around. Can shoot, his contract is ending this year, and as you said, he can be used as trade filler, just as he was used in the trade we got him in. He really is playing for his future in the NBA at this point.

Not sure why he hasn't found a spot on some team as a sniper, though, and he's been moved around a lot. Maybe we will see why he can't stick anywhere after we see him in training camp.

Can't see the Greek being on the team this year based on what he showed in SL- he is not ready yet. In my mind, I am already excluding him from the roster for this season.

Kind of tacky to treat Brown this way, but oh well.

Phil is going to have to show me a lot going forward in how he handles situations better
