With this post I can tell that you know NOTHING about this president or what he's done. To make such an foolish statement only proves to me that you need not continue to comment about what President Obama has or hasn't done. History will record that he was one of our best presidents despite the unprecedented obstruction and lies he's faced he still managed to change things for the better. Here is just a few of the things Obama has done despite the Republican interference only up to 2012. Since then Obama has done even more to help the country.

1. Passed Health Care Reform: After five presidents over a century failed to create universal health insurance, signed the Affordable Care Act (2010). It will cover 32 million uninsured Americans beginning in 2014 and mandates a suite of experimental measures to cut health care cost growth, the number one cause of America’s long-term fiscal problems.

2. Passed the Stimulus: Signed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009 to spur economic growth amid greatest recession since the Great Depression. Weeks after stimulus went into effect, unemployment claims began to subside. Twelve months later, the private sector began producing more jobs than it was losing, and it has continued to do so for twenty-three straight months, creating a total of nearly 3.7 million new private-sector jobs.

3. Passed Wall Street Reform: Signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (2010) to re-regulate the financial sector after its practices caused the Great Recession. The new law tightens capital requirements on large banks and other financial institutions, requires derivatives to be sold on clearinghouses and exchanges, mandates that large banks provide “living wills” to avoid chaotic bankruptcies, limits their ability to trade with customers’ money for their own profit, and creates the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (now headed by Richard Cordray) to crack down on abusive lending products and companies.

4. Ended the War in Iraq: Ordered all U.S. military forces out of the country. Last troops left on December 18, 2011.

5. Began Drawdown of War in Afghanistan: From a peak of 101,000 troops in June 2011, U.S. forces are now down to 91,000, with 23,000 slated to leave by the end of summer 2012. According to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the combat mission there will be over by next year.

6. Eliminated Osama bin laden: In 2011, ordered special forces raid of secret compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in which the terrorist leader was killed and a trove of al-Qaeda documents was discovered.

7. Turned Around U.S. Auto Industry: In 2009, injected $62 billion in federal money (on top of $13.4 billion in loans from the Bush administration) into ailing GM and Chrysler in return for equity stakes and agreements for massive restructuring. Since bottoming out in 2009, the auto industry has added more than 100,000 jobs. In 2011, the Big Three automakers all gained market share for the first time in two decades. The government expects to lose $16 billion of its investment, less if the price of the GM stock it still owns increases.

8. Recapitalized Banks: In the midst of financial crisis, approved controversial Treasury Department plan to lure private capital into the country’s largest banks via “stress tests” of their balance sheets and a public-private fund to buy their “toxic” assets. Got banks back on their feet at essentially zero cost to the government.

9. Repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”: Ended 1990s-era restriction and formalized new policy allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military for the first time.

10. Toppled Moammar Gaddafi: In March 2011, joined a coalition of European and Arab governments in military action, including air power and naval blockade, against Gaddafi regime to defend Libyan civilians and support rebel troops. Gaddafi’s forty-two-year rule ended when the dictator was overthrown and killed by rebels on October 20, 2011. No American lives were lost.

11. Told Mubarak to Go: On February 1, 2011, publicly called on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to accept reform or step down, thus weakening the dictator’s position and putting America on the right side of the Arab Spring. Mubarak ended thirty-year rule when overthrown on February 11.

12. Reversed Bush Torture Policies: Two days after taking office, nullified Bush-era rulings that had allowed detainees in U.S. custody to undergo certain “enhanced” interrogation techniques considered inhumane under the Geneva Conventions. Also released the secret Bush legal rulings supporting the use of these techniques.

13. Improved America’s Image Abroad: With new policies, diplomacy, and rhetoric, reversed a sharp decline in world opinion toward the U.S. (and the corresponding loss of “soft power”) during the Bush years. From 2008 to 2011, favorable opinion toward the United States rose in ten of fifteen countries surveyed by the Pew Global Attitudes Project, with an average increase of 26 percent.

14. Kicked Banks Out of Federal Student Loan Program, Expanded Pell Grant Spending: As part of the 2010 health care reform bill, signed measure ending the wasteful decades-old practice of subsidizing banks to provide college loans. Starting July 2010 all students began getting their federal student loans directly from the federal government. Treasury will save $67 billion over ten years, $36 billion of which will go to expanding Pell Grants to lower-income students.

15. Created Race to the Top: With funds from stimulus, started $4.35 billion program of competitive grants to encourage and reward states for education reform.

16. Boosted Fuel Efficiency Standards: Released new fuel efficiency standards in 2011 that will nearly double the fuel economy for cars and trucks by 2025.

17. Coordinated International Response to Financial Crisis: To keep world economy out of recession in 2009 and 2010, helped secure from G-20 nations more than $500 billion for the IMF to provide lines of credit and other support to emerging market countries, which kept them liquid and avoided crises with their currencies.

18. Passed Mini Stimuli: To help families hurt by the recession and spur the economy as stimulus spending declined, signed series of measures (July 22, 2010; December 17, 2010; December 23, 2011) to extend unemployment insurance and cut payroll taxes.

19. Began Asia “Pivot”: In 2011, reoriented American military and diplomatic priorities and focus from the Middle East and Europe to the Asian-Pacific region. Executed multipronged strategy of positively engaging China while reasserting U.S. leadership in the region by increasing American military presence and crafting new commercial, diplomatic, and military alliances with neighboring countries made uncomfortable by recent Chinese behavior.

20. Increased Support for Veterans: With so many soldiers coming home from Iraq and Iran with serious physical and mental health problems, yet facing long waits for services, increased 2010 Department of Veterans Affairs budget by 16 percent and 2011 budget by 10 percent. Also signed new GI bill offering $78 billion in tuition assistance over a decade, and provided multiple tax credits to encourage businesses to hire veterans.

21. Tightened Sanctions on Iran: In effort to deter Iran’s nuclear program, signed Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act (2010) to punish firms and individuals who aid Iran’s petroleum sector. In late 2011 and early 2012, coordinated with other major Western powers to impose sanctions aimed at Iran’s banks and with Japan, South Korea, and China to shift their oil purchases away from Iran.

22. Created Conditions to Begin Closing Dirtiest Power Plants: New EPA restrictions on mercury and toxic pollution, issued in December 2011, likely to lead to the closing of between sixty-eight and 231 of the nation’s oldest and dirtiest coal-fired power plants. Estimated cost to utilities: at least $11 billion by 2016. Estimated health benefits: $59 billion to $140 billion. Will also significantly reduce carbon emissions and, with other regulations, comprises what’s been called Obama’s “stealth climate policy.”

23. Passed Credit Card Reforms: Signed the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act (2009), which prohibits credit card companies from raising rates without advance notification, mandates a grace period on interest rate increases, and strictly limits overdraft and other fees.

24. Eliminated Catch-22 in Pay Equality Laws: Signed Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009, giving women who are paid less than men for the same work the right to sue their employers after they find out about the discrimination, even if that discrimination happened years ago. Under previous law, as interpreted by the Supreme Court in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., the statute of limitations on such suits ran out 180 days after the alleged discrimination occurred, even if the victims never knew about it.

25. Protected Two Liberal Seats on the U.S. Supreme Court: Nominated and obtained confirmation for Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic and third woman to serve, in 2009; and Elena Kagan, the fourth woman to serve, in 2010. They replaced David Souter and John Paul Stevens, respectively.

26. Improved Food Safety System: In 2011, signed FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, which boosts the Food and Drug Administration’s budget by $1.4 billion and expands its regulatory responsibilities to include increasing number of food inspections, issuing direct food recalls, and reviewing the current food safety practices of countries importing products into America.

27. Achieved New START Treaty: Signed with Russia (2010) and won ratification in Congress (2011) of treaty that limits each country to 1,550 strategic warheads (down from 2,200) and 700 launchers (down from more than 1,400), and reestablished and strengthened a monitoring and transparency program that had lapsed in 2009, through which each country can monitor the other.

28. Expanded National Service: Signed Serve America Act in 2009, which authorized a tripling of the size of AmeriCorps. Program grew 13 percent to 85,000 members across the country by 2012, when new House GOP majority refused to appropriate more funds for further expansion.

29. Expanded Wilderness and Watershed Protection: Signed Omnibus Public Lands Management Act (2009), which designated more than 2 million acres as wilderness, created thousands of miles of recreational and historic trails, and protected more than 1,000 miles of rivers.

30. Gave the FDA Power to Regulate Tobacco: Signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (2009). Nine years in the making and long resisted by the tobacco industry, the law mandates that tobacco manufacturers disclose all ingredients, obtain FDA approval for new tobacco products, and expand the size and prominence of cigarette warning labels, and bans the sale of misleadingly labeled “light” cigarette brands and tobacco sponsorship of entertainment events.

31. Pushed Federal Agencies to Be Green Leaders: Issued executive order in 2009 requiring all federal agencies to make plans to soften their environmental impacts by 2020. Goals include 30 percent reduction in fleet gasoline use, 26 percent boost in water efficiency, and sustainability requirements for 95 percent of all federal contracts. Because federal government is the country’s single biggest purchaser of goods and services, likely to have ripple effects throughout the economy for years to come.

32. Passed Fair Sentencing Act: Signed 2010 legislation that reduces sentencing disparity between crack versus powder cocaine possessionfrom100 to1 to 18 to1.

33. Trimmed and Reoriented Missile Defense: Cut the Reagan-era “Star Wars” missile defense budget, saving $1.4 billion in 2010, and canceled plans to station antiballistic missile systems in Poland and the Czech Republic in favor of sea-based defense plan focused on Iran and North Korea.

34. Began Post-Post-9/11 Military Builddown: After winning agreement from congressional Republicans and Democrats in summer 2011 budget deal to reduce projected defense spending by $450 billion, proposed new DoD budget this year with cuts of that size and a new national defense strategy that would shrink ground forces from 570,000 to 490,000 over the next ten years while increasing programs in intelligence gathering and cyberwarfare.

35. Let Space Shuttle Die and Killed Planned Moon Mission: Allowed the expensive ($1 billion per launch), badly designed, dangerous shuttle program to make its final launch on July 8, 2011. Cut off funding for even more bloated and problem-plagued Bush-era Constellation program to build moon base in favor of support for private-sector low-earth orbit ventures, research on new rocket technologies for long-distance manned flight missions, and unmanned space exploration, including the largest interplanetary rover ever launched, which will investigate Mars’s potential to support life.

36. Invested Heavily in Renewable Technology: As part of the 2009 stimulus, invested $90 billion, more than any previous administration, in research on smart grids, energy efficiency, electric cars, renewable electricity generation, cleaner coal, and biofuels.

37. Crafting Next-Generation School Tests: Devoted $330 million in stimulus money to pay two consortia of states and universities to create competing versions of new K-12 student performance tests based on latest psychometric research. New tests could transform the learning environment in vast majority of public school classrooms beginning in 2014.

38. Cracked Down on Bad For-Profit Colleges: In effort to fight predatory practices of some for-profit colleges, Department of Education issued “gainful employment” regulations in 2011 cutting off commercially focused schools from federal student aid funding if more than 35 percent of former students aren’t paying off their loans and/or if the average former student spends more than 12 percent of his or her total earnings servicing student loans.

39. Improved School Nutrition: In coordination with Michelle Obama, signed Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act in 2010 mandating $4.5 billion spending boost and higher nutritional and health standards for school lunches. New rules based on the law, released in January, double the amount of fruits and vegetables and require only whole grains in food served to students.

40. Expanded Hate Crimes Protections: Signed Hate Crimes Prevention Act (2009), which expands existing hate crime protections to include crimes based on a victim’s sexual orientation, gender, or disability, in addition to race, color, religion, or national origin.

41. Avoided Scandal: As of November 2011, served longer than any president in decades without a scandal, as measured by the appearance of the word “scandal” (or lack thereof) on the front page of the Washington Post.

42. Brokered Agreement for Speedy Compensation to Victims of Gulf Oil Spill: Though lacking statutory power to compel British Petroleum to act, used moral authority of his office to convince oil company to agree in 2010 to a $20 billion fund to compensate victims of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico; $6.5 billion already paid out without lawsuits. By comparison, it took nearly two decades for plaintiffs in the Exxon Valdez Alaska oil spill case to receive $1.3 billion.

43. Created Recovery.gov: Web site run by independent board of inspectors general looking for fraud and abuse in stimulus spending, provides public with detailed information on every contract funded by $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Thanks partly to this transparency, board has uncovered very little fraud, and Web site has become national model: “The stimulus has done more to promote transparency at almost all levels of government than any piece of legislation in recent memory,” reports Governing magazine.

44. Pushed Broadband Coverage: Proposed and obtained in 2011 Federal Communications Commission approval for a shift of $8 billion in subsidies away from landlines and toward broadband Internet for lower-income rural families.

45. Expanded Health Coverage for Children: Signed 2009 Children’s Health Insurance Authorization Act, which allows the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to cover health care for 4 million more children, paid for by a tax increase on tobacco products.

46. Recognized the Dangers of Carbon Dioxide: In 2009, EPA declared carbon dioxide a pollutant, allowing the agency to regulate its production.

47. Expanded Stem Cell Research: In 2009, eliminated the Bush-era restrictions on embryonic stem cell research, which shows promise in treating spinal injuries, among many other areas.

48. Provided Payment to Wronged Minority Farmers: In 2009, signed Claims Resolution Act, which provided $4.6 billion in funding for a legal settlement with black and Native American farmers who the government cheated out of loans and natural resource royalties in years past.

49. Helped South Sudan Declare Independence: Helped South Sudan Declare Independence: Appointed two envoys to Sudan and personally attended a special UN meeting on the area. Through U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice, helped negotiate a peaceful split in 2011.

50. Killed the F-22: In 2009, ended further purchases of Lockheed Martin single-seat, twin-engine, fighter aircraft, which cost $358 million apiece. Though the military had 187 built, the plane has never flown a single combat mission. Eliminating it saved $4 billion.

Dude, I voted for Obama both times and will continue to support him/his party so long as the Republican platform remains intact but he is still a lesser of two evils. He gets his money from the same people/enterprises that Republicans do and serves their interest all the same. Most of what you listed benefits no one other than that class of people.

Case and point, bailing out the banks served no one's benefit but the banks themselves and social elites. They've managed to do mergers that never would've been permitted in a healthy economy, which has only helped them to further consolidate their influence/power. And of that so-called recovery that saved the country, 95%-99% has went to assets owned by the top 1%. As for the Dodd-Frank act, it's little more than politic theater. The banks themselves are the ones who are writing the laws to regulate themselves, which is why they are doing the same **** that contributed to the crash in the first place. Our bailout model should've been like Finland/Norway who nationalized their banks, to restructure them with the intent of making them more sustainable.

Putin has his good moments. Putin has his bad moments. How many American and Syrian lives did he save by helping to negotiate the seizure of Syria's bio-chem weapons? Remember that at that time, Obama was drawing redlines, while Putin was the level-headed one. And if you recall, the very same people we were going to ally ourselves with in Syria, were the very same people we were going to be fighting in Iraq, most recently. The reality is that if only 300 innocent people died in the world, it would be considered a good day considering the carnage that has been going on for centuries.

And of those called recovery that saved the country, 95%-99% has went to assets owned by the top 1%.

The events you mention does happened during Obama administration.
But they would happened any way on any other administration.
Some of them are just a big blunders, some are more harmful that good, and some a good.
This country is ruled by wealth and people behind this wealth. And this is great.
I was leaving 33 yeas in country ruled by people who had nothing. This country is gone.
Presidents (Obama included) are just puppets. And Obama not a bad one. High quality puppet.

He could have taken a different approach and tried to at the least maintain some economic ties with Ukraine rather than take this zero sum all or nothing tactic. Yes, of course, poor Obama. Those evil Republicans blew up the web site. Those evil Republicans created this health care mess we find ourselves in, where you have to change plans every 3 months. Those evil Republicans made poor Obama lie about the whole way his ObamaCare was actually going to work and be implemented.

When the evil dumb Republicans are in power, it's stupid crass politics. When the enlightened intelligent Dems are in power, it's the stupid evil crass Republicans responsible for Obama's approval rating. And anything else that goes awry.

The KoolAid line forms on the left, is that correct?

A recent survey conducted by the Commonwealth Fund revealed that 74% of Republicans are "satisfied" with Obamacare. This, of course, is for good reason as it marks the first time in our nation's history where our expenditures on healthcare services per GDP went down.

http://m.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2014/07/republicans-love-obamacare

This much was predicted by the few pragmatic conservatives left in the party, evidenced by this article:

So continue living in your bubble where a "D" attached to a politician's name is a bad thing.

1st of all Conservative voters and the Republican Party are not one and the same. So what if Republican Voters ended up liking Obamacare? The Rep. Party Spent Hundreds of Millions trying to kill Obamacare or convince people not to buy in. That is the important fact here. Why is the Rep. Party such hypocrites? They knew good and damn well that Obamacare was good for their constituents. Those who vote Republican especially in the south vote against their own interests all the time. People in the South and Red states in general receive the most Government Help verses those who live in Blue states and yet they vote against the very Gov't funding they need!!!

Delaware residents, who voted overwhelmingly for President Barack Obama in 2012, get 50 cents in federal funding for every $1 in federal income taxes they pay.

Mississippi — 55.5% for Mitt Romney — cashes in with $3.07 in federal funding for every dollar paid in income taxes.

Those findings come from a new analysis by WalletHub. The personal finance social network crunched returns on taxes paid to the federal government, federal funding as a percent of state revenue and the number of federal employees per capita to conclude that Red States “are altogether more reliant on federal funding than Blue States.”

That often correlates to lower state taxes. “The more dependent a state is on the federal government, the less likely it is to charge high tax rates,” Wallethub says.

Some of the results correspond with a recent study by the Tax Foundation, which showed that federal aid accounted for 45.8% of Mississippi’s revenue, ranking it first. The Magnolia state also has among the lowest tax burdens in the nation.

You can keep posting your theory of moral equivalence between Dems and Repubs, but there is a real difference and the record shows that Repub Policy is bad for Americans. Those very Repubs you're supporting are blocking Millions of people from getting Healthcare in Red States right now!!! Why block Medicaid expansion? Suppose we didn't do the Stimulus or Auto Bailout? All those Millions of jobs would be lost and we'd be in worse shape. Repubs complain about fiscal responsibility and then BLOW 24 Billion on the Gov't Shutdown. I can go on for days pointing out the flawed Republican decisions.

I can't for the life of me understand those who support the Republican Party. What is the rationale for that support? Show us what they've done in the last 12 years that has helped this country!!! Since they've taken over Congress they've done NOTHING to create jobs. No infrastructure investment... NOTHING!!! This is the least productive congress of all time:

according to the Federal Register, there have only been 23 public laws enacted in the second session of the 113th Congress -- a number that virtually ensures that this Congress will pass the fewest number of laws of any in history. (It's hard to imagine that, in an election year, Congress is going to go on a law-passing spree.)

Don't like laws passed as a measure of productivity? How about bills passed -- although this stat can be slightly misleading since not all bills are created equal with some mattering far more than others. Still, the story remains the same --

So were are the Jobs programs, education, investments in business creation from the Repubs? They do nothing but tell lies about Obama, hold meaningless hearings and investigations, obstruct and cost us money and jobs.

It's not the people, so much as it's the system. No one man or woman is going to change that behemoth and we as a population are too simple-minded and petty to lobby for better. More people know intimate details about Kanye West than they would about their district's congressman/woman. That fact is at the core of the problem.

Dude not for nothing but you don't know WTF you're talking about. I have 3 children that were able to stay on my insurance because of Obama. All 3 were premature and have Pre-existing conditions that would've caused problems before Obamacare. They have college loans and Obama has been trying to help with those costs at least he's helping those with older loans:

Obama loan forgiveness is a plan that has been introduced by President Obama due to the increasing problems about students’ loan debts in United States. This plan is intended to help students who are not able to fully pay their loan and those who have settled a significant amount of their loan balance for numerous years. This plan clears all outstanding debts of students who have made timely and regular payments on their current federal loans for more than 20 years. Also, individuals who work in government departments like the military service might have their entire amount overdue cleared earlier before the minimum year based this plan.
Justification for this plan

The main goal of Obama Loan Forgiveness is to ease and alleviate financial burdens among graduates and college students. Moreover, the primary objective of this plan is to help students by freeing them of debts as fast as possible so as they can be able to focus on achieving a degree rather than settling debts for decades.
Low Payments

This plan takes into consideration the size and income of the family when calculating the loan settled by borrowers. Those who are qualified for this program may have their monthly loan payments restricted at around 10% of their income. For example, people who earns $50,000 per annum and have a current loan balance of $40,000 at 6.8% APR are generally needed to pay a minimum of $460 every month on the standard repayment scheme. Therefore, contrary to other settlement plans for student loan, borrowers may gain from low payments.

I have relatives in the Military and thank GOD he's shut down the wars and they don't have to go back AGAIN. Trust me it's a huge deal for our family. My father was in Vietnam and My Grandfather in WWII where he was injured. I think perhaps it's easy to overlook the many things Obama has been doing but for me and my family I can go on and on with other aspects of what he's done that have helped my family.

Dude, I'm not trying to espouse any kind of moral equivalence between the two parties. As I said in a different post "I voted for Obama twice and will continue to support him/his party so long as the Republican platform remains intact". But just take a look at some of Obama's top donors (that we know of anyway; who didn't hide their identity through these new super-Pac laws). Among them include defense contractors like Lockheed Martin and banks/financial agencies like JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. You think that Lockheed gave him that money to end the military-industrial complex that Republicans get derided for whole-heartedly supporting? You think JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley gave him that money to better regulate themselves, which they have been very public about being against? Let's be serious.

The reality is that both parties are sponsored by the same industries, who hedge their bets in order to endear themselves to whom ever gets to be in charge. In only a very few cases, do you get industries that are almost entirely beholden to a certain party, e.g. the oil industries to Republicans or the telecommunications, public services and insurance industries to Democrats. But at the end of the day, their serving their interests over our own. The only difference is that Democrats throw the public a bone every now and again e.g. lowering college loan interest rates (while still lining the pockets of the higher education industry and banks). So I'll vote for them but recognize that there still needs to be wholesale change.

As for the rest of your post, I recognize that conservatives and Republicans are not necessarily one in the same but in most cases, there is no distinction between the two. The exact opposite is true for liberals and Democrats. Most individuals that identify as "moderates" tend to be liberal-oriented people like myself who feel discouraged about the process or the ill-informed who don't follow politics. It's why Republicans can be so radical with their message and why Democrats remain so timid.

That's all good and well. I'm happy that your family has benefited from Obamacare. In all honesty, it was a step in the right direction. BUT, why couldn't we have a hybrid system like Australia, which features public and private healthcare coverage? After all, we are the only industrialized nation in the world that doesn't feature socialized medicine, which allows those countries to PAY LESS than we do and still have BETTER OUTCOMES than we do.

The reality is that you can't get campaign contributions from a socialized program, so there is little incentive for politicians to push for it despite its inherent advantages. So at the end of the day, we're still dealing with ****; this time around, it's just polished up better. We'll continue to hear propaganda about how it isn't a sustainable model, while no one asks how we could then pay for several dozen B-1 Stealth Bombers that cost $750 million-$2 billion a pop, not factoring in annual overhead and maintenance costs.

Obama basically went with what he felt he could get Republican buy in when it came to Obamacare. The Progressive plan would've been medicare for all or Single Payer. In the end if the Republicans in Red States weren't blocking Medicaid expansion, there would be Millions more with Health insurance and rural hospitals would've be closing.

In the past year alone, more rural hospitals closed than in the prior 15 years combined. This is a staggering fact, which is under reported by national media.

When a rural hospital closes, the community often also loses affiliated rural health clinics, local ambulance service, mental health services, long-term care, rural surgery, rehab, home health and other vital services as well. What our nation is currently experiencing is the devastation, and in many cases the elimination, of the rural health safety net.

The reasons are many which include:

- Medicare reductions included within the Affordable Care Act
- Failure to expand state Medicaid
- Medicare reductions included in sequestration
- Congressional reductions to rural Medicare payments
- Regulatory changes imposed by CMS
- Population shifts and other market force impacts

More than half of all rural hospitals are currently experiencing negative total margins. The data is clear: rural health care access is not sustainable without targeted policy changes.
Meanwhile, as individual states explore rural hospital rescue policies, both Congress and the Administration are exploring new ways to further cut payments to rural hospitals. This is despite the fact that according to data released at the National Rural Health Association’s 37th Annual Conference last week, rural hospital charges are 63 percent less than urban hospitals, and the Medicare program spends per beneficiary 2.5 percent less than urban.

Progressive policy is far superior to Conservative policy. We'd be so far ahead in this economy if they didn't block every program Obama has been trying to enact in order to grow jobs. He already quietly increased our Renewable Energy sector:

Many of the Obama administration's initiatives were undertaken as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and many of those investments were specifically in clean energy. According to a report by Clean Edge: The Clean Tech Marketing Authority, the recovery act included more than $70 billion in tax credits and direct spending for programs involving clean energy and transportation.[10]
The White House website states that the recovery act provided more than $80 billion in clean energy investments:[11]
• $11 billion for a smart grid to connect rural energy-producing sites with cities, and smarter use of energy within homes,
• $5 billion to weatherize low-income homes,
• $4.5 billion to reduce the federal government's own energy bill by making federal buildings more energy efficient,
• $6.3 billion to support state and local energy efforts,
• $600 million to train people for green jobs, and
• $2 billion to promote investments in battery storage technologies.
Clean Edge lists other recent policies of the Obama Administration to support the clean energy sector in the U.S.:[12]
• Extending the investment tax credit for solar energy,
• Extending the production tax credit for wind energy,
• Allowing utilities to participate in income tax credits, and
• Allowing renewable energy developers to receive government grants instead of tax credits.
In his 2011 State of the Union Address, President Obama called for a goal, "By 2035, 80 percent of America's electricity will come from clean energy sources." [13]

I can go on and on listing all the things Obama has been doing that the public just hasn't realized he's done to help the country. Meanwhile down here in the south they rejected the High Speed rail Project that would've created TONS of jobs and boosted commerce between states. It's just an ongoing problem with these Republicans.

I know platy of people who lost their private insurance because it became un-affordable after Obmacare and obamacare plans for them are too expensive. They select to pay penalties instead. And this people suppose to make the program solvent.
The premiums for corporate plans already rising and will jump significantly next year taking money away from middle class and away from economy. The problem with healthcare in US is not insurance itself but unreasonable cost of medical services and procedures and pharmacy. We pay multiple times more having much worth quality of care that many countries.
Hospitals and doctors became businesses which working to get profits not provide care.
The conditions in most of the hospital are horrendous. Quality of stuff is below any standards.
It in not even about money but about loss of humanity.
Obama and creators of Obamacare did a good job to support profits for pharma and medical industry, insurance companies, and create huge government medical-related bureaucracy. Huge amount of wealth will be taken from middle class and hanged to 1% of wealthy with some little portion thrown to pure part of the society. Typical socialist at work.

It's a shame that people are using this flight going down as an excuse to attack Obama but nixluva is the man in this thread.

I am not sure why nixluva and his opponents hijack the thread for Obamacare and Obama debate.
Obama administration together with Europeans allow Russia to do whatever they want, never insisted on creating no-fly zone above Esters Ukraine and now we see the consequences.
The tragedy is not only Russia and Ukraine responsibility but ours as well.
UN is just a bunch clowns capable on nothing and Europeans just a bunch of hypocrats.
US administration is nothing less of impotent and we as a nation don't give a damn about whats going on outside US.

Just to clarify on what our pollination are:

Hypocrisy is the claim or pretense of holding beliefs, feelings, standards, qualities, opinions, behaviors, virtues, motivations, or other characteristics that one does not in actual fact hold. It is the practice of engaging in the same behavior or activity for which one criticizes another.[1][2] In Moral psychology, it is the failure to follow one’s own expressed moral rules and principles.[3]

Recent studies in Psychology have identified the evolutionary bases and the mental mechanisms of hypocrisy, tracing its roots to adaptations that serve contradictory functions in the human brain, and to cognitive biases and distortions that predispose humans to readily perceive and condemn faults in others, while failing to perceive and condemn faults of their own.

That's the antithesis of socialism, which aims to limit the rise of an oligarchy. Most European nations are more socialist than we are and have less income inequality because of it; they also enjoy their lives and each other much more. What you've described is merely unregulated capitalism, also known as corporatism.

I agree with everything else you had to say about Obamacare being a circle-jerk to insurance and other medical industries but would contest the notion that the cost of service is rising because of it. The reality is that medical costs were rising in spite of it because that's what happens when you have free enterprise that is poorly regulated. Because of the mandate, however, the increase that an average citizen has to pay has been mitigated by redistributing its burden among more people. At best, this is a bandaid policy and not the cure-all that some would like to profess. The reality though is that premiums have gone down because of Obamacare because of artificially inflating competition and moderating the risk.

You have to understand that The Obama Admin doesn't want an increased war zone in that area and if they get involved even deeper, it could inflame things.

You suggest a no fly zone without understanding how a "no fly zone" is enforced!!! You are being Naive. The US and EU don't control the skies over Russia or the boarder area with Ukraine. You have to use force to create a no fly zone and who would want to do that against Russia? More importantly the Russian separatists don't have aircraft so what are you hoping to accomplish with a no fly zone? The warnings about flying over that area were made to all countries and it was up to each to either heed the warning or ignore it.

As for the US being impotent understand that we have the ability to do something but that really only creates more problems. The use of sanctions is the right move and if only the EU would do the same then it would start to really work. This tragedy might just get them off their butts to actually follow the US and impose stronger sanctions. We've had enough wars and the American People don't want another. This is the reason they voted for Obama. So this is the will of the people.

You seem to really lack a sense of the big picture when it comes to Obamacare. This was a HUGE step in the right direction and something that many presidents have failed to accomplish for decades. It's probably one of the toughest things any president has been able to accomplish but it's just the start.

Cost is but one aspect of the positive things about Obamacare. There are so many improvements that came with the law that you have to also take note of all of them to get a better sense of just how monumental this was. The list is too long and deep to post here. Just know that it's more than just about lower premiums. It's a literal reform of many of the things the Healthcare industry has been screwing the consumer with for years.

http://obamacarefacts.com/summary-of-provisions-patient-protection-and-affordable-care-act.php

Not to mention that it's a major stimulus measure as money is being sourced to lower income citizens. Also more jobs are being created to help care for the increase in patients. It's part of the recent increase in jobs. The more jobs people have the better. It creates a positive chain reaction in the economy. This is of course not really happening in the Red States that have rejected Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion.

Just Imagine how great we'd be doing if the Repubs hadn't blocked "The American Jobs Act" or funded Obama's idea for a new transportation Bill. Congress just did a meager $11 billion patch but Obama wants a $302 billion to improve infrastructure? That would create TONS of jobs and long term projects and make this country more competitive with the rest of the world. Somehow Repubs don't want to do this even tho it makes all the sense in the world. No states need money for jobs more than Red States and yet they don't do anything. Cutting off their nose to spite their face. They hurt their constituents just to deny Obama any success.

I am not suggesting to go at war with Russia which is basically suggest an apocalypses.
US has no need to do anything military.
It is more that enough to stop all trade with Russia and freeze all financial transaction of Russian state and crony corporations.
By no- fly zone I meant not military enforced restrictions but directing all commercial and passenger traffic across Easter Ukraine elsewhere.
This was not done as we failed again to correctly gather intelligence of who the rebels are and what are their capabilities.
CIA and NSA may actually have the intelligence but it was too explosive to get it out.

Again you are oversimplifying the situation. The US and EU still need Russian cooperation in trouble areas of the world that Russia has influence. Syria and Iran Sanctions are a couple of key concerns. Yes big business is in bed with Russia as well, which is problematic. The world economy is very intertwined and it's hard to make big countries do the right thing if they disregard normal civilized behavior. Putin knows that and it taking advantage of the situation, but to what end? He's not really making the EU or US more comfortable with him as a partner. This will drive more a wedge between the countries.

You can't blame the US for the Malaysian decision to take that route. Most countries airlines have avoided the area so it was their decision alone. Why you're choosing to lay some blame on the US is beyond me. This is really all on Putin. Why the hell would he give the Separatists such a powerful weapon? He should've been lowering the heat in the conflict and instead he's escalated it. The blame is solely on Putin in this affair.
