Would you target Harrison Barnes. Has a team option for next year and a friendly 3M salary

outgoing players JR Smith and Priggs. Would use GS's expiring trade exception for salary difference. Barnes could give us salary cap flexibility next year 9M if we don't pick up his option. GS's exception expires today, so use it or lose it.

GS needs a 3rd PG after losing Blake. JR would be an upgrade for them off the bench

Anything sending out JR, sure, I'm happy to oblige. Why in the world would GS swap JR for Barnes? Prigs is 37 - they're not desperate to pay for a guy who may be done after this season.

EDIT: Apparently was talking out my ass - I thought Barnes had a better year than he did. Still don't see GS taking the deal, but not as ridiculous as I first thought.

"Golden State’s bench was among the worst in the league last season, as few players could consistently contribute. The Warriors sent both Brooks and fan favorite Kent Bazemore to the Los Angeles Lakers for Steve Blake. Blake was a major disappointment as he disappeared in the playoffs, giving no help to star Stephen Curry. If Golden State wants to compete in the tough Western Conference, they must solve the backup point guard position, and Lin may do just that. He gives the Warriors scoring off the bench, and has the ability to initiate the offense. Perhaps the most beneficial part of the deal is giving Curry–who played heavy minutes throughout the entire season–some rest."

If they can't get Lin, Priggs and JR could improve their bench. Still, I agree not the best option for GS, but we can do a deal now and Houston might hesitate. A deal would have to be done today to use their exception.

They added Shaun Livingston which absolved the need for a Jeremy Lin or Prigioni. They could use JR Smith but I'm not sure they have the personnel to handle him. I still think Brooklyn would be the ideal candidate to trade JR to. Having moved Thorton's contract, they're in need a backup 2-guard anyway.

For now, Jack can play the two, Merkl, Joe Johnson can easy be a 2. PIerce not off the team yet.

Not sure we would trade JR to the Knicks' cross town rival. Potential public relations nightmare for the Knicks if he or the Nets had any kind of success because of the trade. I could even see Dolan making some comments about this kind of deal if Phil was considering it.

Only seen him play a few times, but the times I did I saw someone athletic who could play smarter at times, kind of like Shump.
