We should just keep our big men comments to this one thread.

Drew Gooden has proven he could score in this league and rebound in this league. Why don't you guys like him? Cuz he can't play defense......I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Knick uniform. Drew has killed the Knicks both times I've seen him play at the Garden(my son is a Orlando/Tracy McGrady fan, darn bandwagoneer!)

Who da heck is gonna score then if the Knicks have a bunch of KT's and Shandons on the team? Marbury by himself?

Sweetney might be able to put up numbers like Carlos Boozers, something like 12 and 10. Knicks just gotta wait till the LA Summer league to start to really see if there is a possibility that Sweets is more of a 15 plus scorer.

Any other names you wanna throw out there?

I like Chris Andersen, he's cheap and put up similar numbers to what Ben Wallace did his first few yeras in the league.

His 48 min. avgs. are staggering, I think its like 12 rebounds and 5 blocks per game.

Also would like to trade for Pat Garrity, I think he'd be deadly on the pick and roll with Marbury.

1) You can't keep the big man topic in just one thread. It's just too broad of a topic.

2) I am interested in Chris Anderson too, but I hear he is still pretty raw.

I like gooden, he is a solid player, and Tyson chandler who I think when healthy will put together a breakout year..

i like wilcox too, yet as weird as it can sounds, I wouldn't mind getting back doleac on the cheap.

He was very efficient with the pick and roll, play tough and improved during his stay here.

what do you think about the dole ?

No problem with him. I think that Steph appreciates his game, too. He's can contibute some much needed bench points.

Only problem is, when you you have some of him ahead of the rotation that doesn't deserve to be starting in the NBA, it becomes hard to appreciate his game. Hopefully a quality 4/5 will emerge and we can better appreciate the quality minutes someone like Doleac provides.
Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

you know what, i was very high on gooden when he was first drafted and hoped the knicks would have drafted him. but i think he has slipped last year. maybe it was playing on an awful team and not having a capable point guard to give him the ball but he was wretched in a decent amount of games. but he is 6'10" and athletic which is a plus. plus it is his third year and he could blossom into a great player with the right coaching and influence around him.

bigmen i think the Knicks should be considering who are even remotely possible to attain this offseason:

1. Erick Dampier (RFA-player option)
2. Chris Webber (trade)
3. Theo Ratliff (trade)
4. Marcus Camby (RFA-player option)
5. Mehmet Okur (RFA?)
6. Mark Blount (RFA-player option)
7. Chris Anderson (UFA)
8. Stromile Swift (RFA)
9. Adonal Foyle (UFA)
10. Dan Gadzuric (UFA)

funny, Hoopshype has Okur listed as an UFA...does Hoopshype have their info wrong?

A dunk contest is only a dunk contest. Results can be deceiving. Yet, anderson (andersen?) is a good energy player to have off the bench. The kind of guy we should go after if we happened to land a guy like webber.

yeah, just because a guy can dunk doesn't mean he's got game (see Harold Minor)...but Anderson is like you said, a great energy player & can impact a game w/his shotblocking & athleticism, much like Marcus Camby used to do for us.

If Isia can pull a Webb trade, and on top of that add a Dampier or Chandler in the mix, he will be IMO the GM of the year.

Sweets.

The greatest value we have are players whom have yet to produce.

The greatest risk is in that, but we must grow our own.

Winning in fantasy ball is getting players whom yet to produce.

Sweets has shown flashes of being very capable at 15-10. We need to expend every asset to get a potential star at every postion. Or, we need to not overpay to get stars.

If we can get Webb without blowing the bank, ok, and move Kurt for a young asset, and let Sweets continue to develope. If no Webb, and we keep allan, then Sweets is just fine.

It's easy to love Gooden if all you watch are the highlights of Orlando's games. If you actually watch games and see that he's a bad defender who can't guard players at any position, then he becomes just a young player with some upside but nothing special.
